Oh, to have a spare $12 million to play Grand Designs with. Spare a thought for Tiger Woods' ex-wife Elin Nordegren who is tearing down her Florida mansion to build a new one.
Nordegren has just demolished the $11.7 million pad - so she can build a better home on the same plot, TMZ reports.

Did she use a golf club?
That was wasteful. If she didn’t like it, she should’ve sold it and bought or built elsewhere.
I know she got a lot of money from Woods and all, but wouldn’t it made just a tad more sense to buy a vacant lot and build from scratch?
11.7 million dollars? Peanuts. She demolished Tiger for, what, half a billion in endorsements?
Heck, I would have given her 500 bucks for it - instead she had to pay to get it torn down. My offer would have been a winner for her!
Article is flase.I’d say conservatively that the HOUSE itself was worth no more than $1.5 mill..most of the value is probably in the land..doesn’t say how old the house is, or what condition it was in..it was nice, but not architecturally distinctive..many times, indtead of a major renovation, it’s cheaper, easier, and faster.. actually to tear it down and start from scratch

She obviously needs me to guide her.
Perhaps she really liked the location, but did not care for her house.
Private person hiring other private people to provide a service for her.
Capitalism creating jobs and spreading wealth. I don’t think it is wasteful or frivolous.
The demolition costs are a minor fraction of the purchase price. There aren’t a lot of large undeveloped lots down here in Southeast Florida where you can build a large home unless you want to move to an undesirable area much farther from the coast. In my parent’s neighborhood in East Boca they tear down pretty much all of the purchased homes to rebuild. What she is doing is pretty standard in this geographical area for wealthy neighborhoods.
What about all the memories?
Ding, Ding, we have a winner.
Take a closer look at the picture dummy, that’s OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY.
Vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
Also, this was probably the property that they were going to demolish and rebuild when they were married. I believe this is on Jupiter Island, which ranks in the top 3 of most expensive Zip codes in America.
I agree that it is her money to do what she wants to with it. More power to her. This may be the most sensible thing to do, if it a unique location. Who knows? I don’t know if she is spreading wealth though. Consuming wealth, in my opinion. I won’t criticize her for it.
thx Boss....those damn facts do get in the way of a good ole Woods bashin.....the house was built in the mid 30’s and in a hurricane area , the house was inadaquate as well the electricity etc.......BUT why not just piss and moan
