I have to agree that, insofar as Ronald Reagan failed to implement a reduction in government, he was a failure. The conservative idea is smaller government. Get it? Not a government slowly gowing bigger. Get it? Or is that another koncept for kooks? Where do the federally funded theater renovations and shrimp marketing campaigns paid for with borrowed Chinese money fit into this "smaller government" idea? Please educate me.

They don't. I guess Ron Paul figured if the feds were taking money for their big welfare state he might as well ask for some of it back on behalf his constituency. Hopefully the funds as received were put to good use and accounted for, the people in his region enjoying some prosperity and good theater at the same time; maybe even a good Batman show now and then. A life time 83% positive rating from Citizens Against Government Waste isn't too bad. He's improved that figure over the past few years, too. Makes him a kook, no?
