For your consideration...may not be stupidity on the part of the candidates, but too many hoops to jump over...

This is a fight over 49 GOP delegates or 4% of the 1144 needed to win the nomination. In 2008 McCain won with 1455 delegates as opposed to his nearest competitor Huckabee with 270 delegates. So in the overall scheme of things these 49 delegates probably won’t make any difference in the overall outcome. What does matter is the primary voters in VA are being limited as to their choices, but that’s the process established by their governing bodies.

Hey, Newt, if you had insisted on the “Wisconsin Method of Verification” and claimed that the Virginia Method was discriminatory, all those “Mickey Mouse” and “Adolph Hitler” signatures ... well in your case, Charles Borromeo, John Bosco, Theresa Lisieux and Catherine Sienna signatures would have passed through without any questions.

BTW those are Saints in the Catholic Church for those of you who wonder where I got those names.

Title is misleading. Should read “Perry, Gingrich, Huntsman, Bachmann, and Santorum Fail to Make Ballot.”

Looks like Romney is going to be the guy this year and it looks like they’re all in on it.

So much for their competency. Getting very hard to vote for anyone in this field. Maybe Sarah should jump in.

Reagan was unable to get on the ballot in NY and PA in 1976. These things happen, sometimes on purpose. Remember MA changing the rules for special elections and then changing them back again as needed?

Lisa Murkowski and (much earlier, in 76) Jerry Brown showed that successful write-ins can be mounted. Perry and Gingrich cannot be that hard to spell.

"""State GOP spokesman Garren Shipley said volunteers spent Friday validating petitions"""""

So it was VOLUNTEERS validating the work of other VOLUNTEERS????.. So who says the validating Volunteers are correct?????.. Do they miraculously KNOW more than the volunteer petition takers???.. Or perhaps they have a motive!!!

Me thinks this may not be the last of it, it needs to be challenged based on the above VOLUNTEERISM. NEWT/PERRY get on it.

So extend the damn deadline. Who cares? It’s not until March. 2 months isn’t enough time to print ballots? Obama used voter fraud to get on the 2008 Ohio primary ballot, for pete’s sake.

In ancient past (read: yesterday), newt and perry supporters said that only serious candidates in the race were the ones who qualified in VA.

I’ll give a pass to Newt. It is not that he lives in VA or something.

Seriously, few VA candidates are not too relevant. If a conservative wins IA (bahmann, santorum or even perry) or strong second, they are strong candidates. Newt can go back plotting his amnesty plan or ally himself with nancy or dede again.

Apparently there’s some kind of technical requirement that VA claims is important - addresses so signers can be verified - sounds reasonable enough. How is VA’s method so different from the other states that it catches everybody by surprise?

I’ll tell you what’s pissing me off. Why is the News Media, FReepers and the blogs all saying “Newt and Perry” didn’t make the ballot? The fact is, Bachmann, Santorum, Huntsman, Gingrich, and Perry ALL didn’t make the ballot. And I’ll happily tell you why they are only referencing two...because if you focus on all five , then the STANDARD becomes the story instead of Perry and Newt and the quest to make them appear incompetant.

Something seems amiss in Virginia. I’m beginning to think a brokered GOP convention will lead to the best outcome.

It is clear now. This whole exercise is theater. The elites have choreographed the production and long ago picked the winner. They will tell us (the peons) after the show (phony election) is over. As in the past, they believe this exercise will keep us quiet and contented for another four years. Are we convinced and motivated enough yet to call a halt to this continuing repetitive charade and subjugation??

Considering the number of candidates who WON’T be on the Virginia ballot, it sounds like the state’s requirements may result in most of the candidates ignoring Virginia and the issues it cares about.

Shooting themselves in the foot?
