I didn't watch the show. Did anyone hear what he said?

I like what he said and I want to like Gingrich but I keep thinking of all that money he took from Freddie Mac.

Gingrich has made his (correct) point, but now that it is made, he should change the subject and talk about another reform or, more specifically, removing barriers to job creation.

In the general election, Obama’s best strategy is to run on the “check and balance” theme to avoid the Republicans controlling the House, Senate and White House. Independents may buy this line, especially if Gingrich threatens the Judicial Branch.

We are in this to win — not make ideologically correct speeches and then lose.

This response to what Newt said is pure rotten liberal bull shit. I have never heard such trash. Did any of you really listen to what Newt said? Obviously this is a hit piece and Newt is right. I cannot believe how many FR’s are oblivious to the Constitution and Judges are not the final word. What is the matter with some of these fools?

Having listened to the interview I would have to agree completely with Speaker Gingrich. To which I would add a tagline I used many years ago...

Regime change in the courts. Impeach activist judges!

Wow what if Obama did that?

Newt is stepping in dangerous waters. Yeah it's all great and good as long as you agree with the person in charge.

Something tells me the Found Fathers, as Newt likes to quote, would be completely against this.

Headlines and summaries be damned.

What Newt says in the video of the interview is absolutely correct.

Judges can be impeached.
Prior to their impeachment, the house could subpoena a judge to appear before a congressional hearing.

If a judge refused or ignored the subpoena, the capitol police or a U.S. Marshall could be sent to force the judge to appear.

No problem from me with any of this.

While Constitutionally correct, one has to wonder why folks are alarmed by the concept.

It's Congress, not the POTUS who wields most power over the judiciary.

Then again, what about when the commies had a majority in the House and 60 votes in the Senate?

It's Constitutional and they would have re-made the judiciary.

And then they would have found it necessary to barricade themselves to protect their very lives.

He was talkin g about the judge that said he would put the superintendent of this school in JAIL if ANYONE said certain words like "Pray, Benediction", etc.!!!!! Who WOULDN'T want that judge brought before Congress to answer WHY??? And then IMPEACHED!

Seemed very reasonable to me.

It would take a 2/3 vote by Congress? That is unless a Democrat is President. Then they find some bs way to ram whatever they want through no matter.

If Freepers fall for headlines, what will the average independent voter do? Do all our candidates need to speak in pablum-filled sound bites or risk rejection? My only hope is that most of these posters are Perry supporters expressing mock shock at Newt’s remarks.

It is important for Newt to hammer home one point here - Judges are the only branch of government that is not elected by the people and have no term limits. There has to be a check and balance on them.

To allow judges the only lasting word on what is legal we will end up with fiat by diktat through a process of elimination. The judges can’t rule the people. Congress needs to be the strongest branch, but unfortunately is the weakest.

“Newt Gingrich said Congress has the power to dispatch the Capitol Police or U.S. Marshals to apprehend a federal judge who renders a decision lawmakers broadly oppose...”

Didn’t Congress just pass a law that says the president can just call them terrorists and send them to Guantanamo?

So what if judges order baliffs to arrest rogue Congressmen, Senators, or a President??

Perhaps We The People should throw them ALL out and start over.

I caught this interview on CBS this morning. Schieffer also asked him about saying he would ignore court rulings as POTUS. Schieffer asked him the obvious :"Are you saying Obama should ignore the SCOTUS if they overturn his health care bill and implement it anyway claiming the court is wrong?" I was surprised that all the Newt cheer leaders who thought the statement was brilliant didn't see that one coming.

Remember when Obama said he wouldn't defend DOMA in court because he claimed it was 'unconstitutional'? I sure wasn't happy with that.

BTW, I convinced now that some of the endorsements we are seeing and will see for Romney are people who might otherwise have supported a good conservative, but see the disaster that is Newt unleashed, and are scared to death of 4 more years of Obama.
