Jim,

Agree Romney is not conservative. Newt Gingich did all those things in 1994 against a back drop of an openly corrupt democrat controlled congress. House banking and post office shenanigans along with Bill Clinton's first acts of Gays in the military and the Ram It Down Our Throats Hillary Care set the stage for the 94 Gingrich revolution.

In the retroscope, Gingrich only stopped the democrat wasteful spending and when Bush took command, the deficit spending resumed, but for allegedly republican backed initiatives. Government grew under Bush at no fault to Gingrich.

Newt was only a speed bump in the road to serfdom for the American People.
I am still uncomfortable with Newt because of his non-lobbying millions from the trough which is the MO for our government to pay its favored sons and daughters.

To me, Freddy and Fanny are just a clearing house to launder tax money and both sides of the isle have taken their turns. Both Franklin Raines and Newt Gingrich, have been in on this funny business. It would not surprise me to see Chelsea Clinton feeding at this FnF trough soon. This is the house banking scandal on steroids!

I agree Mitt Romney is lacking what it will take. He is the establishment's candidate. If he is elected he can claim to be the first female president in much the same way Clinton was declared the nations first black president.

I am not sure Newt is pure as a conservative. But this having been said, he is a whale of a lot better than the goof at the helm now!

>> It is a wonder how all comes clear when one pays heed not to hearsay and innuendo but to the factual record of what these men actually did

Indeed, the record matters, and Newt has on record what it takes.

“Sitting it out and giving Obama a 2nd term is utterly absurd.”

Ah, but you presume that not sitting it out will give RINOmney a win. And if you win with WIllard, what do you win??

I’d rather have an enemy in office whose true intent is known and I can oppose,
than have a “friend” who is a veiled enemy and can’t be trusted.

Either way, you will get socialism.

I will vote for any conservative on any ticket. I won’t vote for socialists, marxists, cultists, RINOs or communists.

Appears Ann Coulter’s opinion goes to the highest bidder these days.

Jim,
This sounds like an endorsement for Newt. If so, would you be willing to pin it to the top of the FR website.

Your opinion and that of FR still really means something in the conservative community. I think it important to show that sites like National Review and folks like George Will don’t speak for conservatives.

If this is an endorsement, would you be willing to make your opinion a little more public?

Thanks

yes...where are all those “abused” women now that Herman is no longer in the running? If they were so heartbroken and devastated, why did they drop everything the instant Herman left the race?

All my posts until after Florida must be prefaced with: “If this race boils down to Newt vs Romney, then I’m all in for Newt!”

Just get tired of typing it in.

Any official endorsement from me can wait another month.

Not that it matters.

Well, I am not “big into suing people”, but in this case, I would not blame him one bit if he did.

That’s completely wrong-headed. As long as conservatives acquiesce to voting for RINOs out of lesser-evilism, RINOs will take us for granted, thinking, “They have nowhere else to go.” We have already found that when we give our loyalty to RINOs, they give us little or none in return. Rather, they ignore us and cater to liberals and moderates in hopes of winning their support.

That is exactly where I am too. I had high hopes for Palin and then found Bachmann and Cain to be interesting possibilities and even thought Perry would be acceptable but all three of those campaigns had lots of disappointments and serious flaws.

Going into the South Carolina primary I have a feeling we’ll be moving to the beat of the former Georgia Congressman.

Tea party patriots will never embrace Romney or his Obama-light message and policies.

I consider myself a Team Party patriot and if Mitt Romney is the nominee, I will not vote for him. I will write in an acceptable candidates name instead.

I know this very well could mean throwing the election to 0bama. But I don’t see much of a difference bewteen the two. I think this country will conclude it’s collapse under either ones leadership. Romney will not repeal Obamacare, will not reign in spending, will continue the growth of government and will do nothing to preserve the sanctity of our liberty. Under an Obama second term or a Romney first term, I believe this nation will collapse. So if the country is going to collapse, let it be under a Democrat.

Say what you want about Newt. We know he is badly flawed in some areas. Newt is not my first pick, my second, or even my third. But Newt did play a significant part in reducing government, balancing a budget and forcing a liberal President to move to the right. This is what we need and at this stage.

We need to rally behind Newt and ensure is nominated over Romney (or Perry and Paul). He has the smarts to destroy Obama in a debate. He has the guts to take a hard hitting campaign to Obama and call him out for what he is, an Alinsky styled radical. Romney will only Alinsky’ed as McCain-Palin was in 2008. Newt knows what he is going up against and he CAN beat Obama.

“...who sleeps in the White House isn’t as important as taking the House and Senate”

Yes. But accomplishing that would require taking local action and involvement with your neighbors and the party. Much harder than watching Fox and posting on FR!
