I cut these things off at the pass with my ‘penicillin soup”, ‘snuff’ ginger, lots of honey.

Penicillin Soup: Into at least 1 1/2 quarts boiling chicken broth (NOT CANNED - that just water they drag a chicken bone through. Either make my own of use “Better Than Bouillon” broth paste (Comes in 8 ounce jars - seems like it cost a lot, but at about $5 - it’s CHEAP in the long run as it only taste ONE TSP to make 8 oz of broth! That’s gallons worth in a jar. I love having it on hand - good for quick gravies and soups too..

So, slice up 3-4 onions, a whole bulb of garlic (not a clove - the whole bulb) 1 tsp thyme, 2 tsp crushed fresh ginger or 1 tsp powdered (have a hanky ready cause it will break everything up FAST and you be a-blowing as it gets cleared out) some parsley, 1 tsp sage and 1 tsp crushed rosemary...
Put above into boiling broth, cover, take off heat and let steep at least 15 minutes. Strain off and drink a cup - repeat every hour for 4 hours - VERY IMPORTANT.

Then a cup every 3-4 hours.

Take 1 tsp to 1 tbl honey for sore throat and coughing. - Honey is a great germ killer. And before bed, take a tablespoon of honey with 1 tsp fresh lemon juice or organic cider vinegar - kills germs, soothes throat and help to go sleep and sleep through the night.

I find that on the rare occasions I don’t prevent a cold/flu in the first place - and start getting it full blown - the soup knocks it out in two days instead of two weeks.

Thank you for posting this. I frequently use a herbal tea, lemon flavor, which I get from a local (HEB-Central TX) grocery chain, which is made from lemongrass (cymbopogon citratus). It doesn’t taste really bad, but I mix it with Tazo Chai tea, and it then tastes great. The lemongrass is a known antibiotic and anti-fungal.
