First lady Michelle Obama and first daughters Sasha and Malia are headed to Hono­lulu on Friday for a 17-day vacation — without the president.

At least for now.

Instead of rebuking him as a slacker, we transfer our thinking about vacations. To wit, I don’t take long vacations because I have too much to do at work and don’t want to get behind.
