at least Newt is supporting legalizing illegals (who apparently are law-abiding citizens). That sure is bold.

When NR-types endorse the enabler of Romney-care, I find ALL of these types of arguments disingenuous. Come out for Perry or Bachmann. But if we must have a big government guy, I’ll take Newt over Romney, if that’s all that’s on the menu.
Newt never attendd a NARAL fund-raiser, not even in his Rockefeller Republican days.

I think people are missing one vital point. Romney comes across as smarmy and patronizing. It's almost as though he doesn't relate well to humans and feels the need to put on a theater act when in public.
It doesn't seem to hurt him in urban settings but it sets off alarm bells in flyover country.

Why does the MAJORITY of movement Republicans always whave to kowtow to the Establishment crowd?
NO. ROMNEYS. EVER.
If Romney gets the nomination, the Republican Party will be in shambles as a majority will be UTTERLY unrepresented.
If the Establishment was so afraid of Gingrich, they should not have helped tear down Cain and Bachmann and Perry.
NO Nelson Rockefellers. No Gerald Fords. No Bob Doles. No John McCains.
No more Establishment losers.

Gingrich is no more unelectable than Romney. There, simply, is no right or wrong position regarding anyone’s choice of candidate. I know that there are legions of partisans desirous of influencing our choiices in this regard but it’s all Bullshit! Of relevance is the piss-poor performance of that bumbling marxist in the Whitehouse vis a vis our liberty and and our economic well-being. Any of the Republicans contesting for the Presidency could beat an abject failure, the likes of which we have never seen! Let’s get freakin’ real!

Newt Is the Problem ... for Mitt. [and that's a good thing!] "When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers, "just men who will rule in the fear of God." The preservation of government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; if the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded. If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws."-- Noah Webster

I feel your frustration. We're not a bunch of pathetic victims of RINOs, establishment Republicans, 1 per-centers or whatever other class envy phrase we want to use to mask our own demons. Some want to die on their swords. Let them. “No ba$tard ever won a war by dying for his country.” Vote for the candidate you think has the best chance of making that other ba$tard lose the only election that matters. I've voted in every presidential election since 1976. Next year, I'll be voting for the GOP candidate.

On Monday, we would say were not going to give a $500 child tax credit to people who dont have tax liabilities, said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) to National Reviews Brian Bolduc. On Wednesday, hed meet with President Clinton, and that position would change. Newt has displayed egregious unreliability on the issues with the highest stakes. Grahamnesty criticizing Newt for being unreliable?

NRO is a paid pimping service -- like Politico.
Why in the world would they PUSH a failed governor who was dog abuser?

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly - they may, in fact, be illegal. Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon. "An officer for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer, Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck, and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."
"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch? - Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip - "Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack. e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog,".. Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for"
"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon. Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. [like the citizens under Romney's RomneyCARE, etc.?] "
"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours. As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway."
"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney - 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty"
Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus
"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse? - Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron. But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea, which ran down the back window of the car. .David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog. "It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering that the solution may cause."

He will loose by a landslide. There will not be more than 3 debates and they will not allow gingrich to dominate. They will make sure to show a white old man against obama. Social conservatives will not turn out for gingrich. Atleast for romney, few moderates will show up. Bottom line, I have to really think hard to spend lot of time canvassing my precincts. If newt is the candidate, Republicans will loose North Carolina. I can guarantee you !

What makes Newt unelectable. He is better at articulating the opposing vision of Obama (ie the majority views on almost every issue) than anyone else in the field. He also has a tremendous experience building a national majority. Yes, we know he has warts, but he has a lot of positives, too. If he can withstand the scrutiny through IA, NH, SC, and FL and takes the lead without any major problems, he will have demonstrated pretty good capability for the general election.
