Found a TV that I thought had terrific color. It mesmeriszes me because of its size and color saturation. It is about 1200 more than I planned to spend and I am trying to figure out whether it is worth it. On the one hand, I haven't done anything fun in a long time, on the downside, it is a lot of monies for me.

Here are the specs: Sharp Aquos 70" TV

http://www.sharpusa.com/ForHome/HomeEntertainment/LCDTVs/LC70LE733U.aspx With the introduction of the 70" class (69.5" Diagonal) LC-70LE733U, Sharp once again reinforces its leadership in LCD and LED technology. Sharp’s proprietary quad pixel technology adds a fourth color, yellow, to the traditional RGB pixel format, enabling many colors to be displayed for the first time. Featuring more colors than any other television, see never-before-seen colors like sparkling golds, Caribbean blues and sunflower yellows.

The proprietary AQUOS LED system comprised of the X-Gen LCD panel and UltraBrilliant LED enables an incredible dynamic contrast ratio of 6,000,000:1 for excellent picture quality. AquoMotion 240 virtually eliminates blur and motion artifacts in fast-moving video. The LC-70LE733U features Smart TV, including the addition of Vudu™ apps, Netflix streaming video1, CinemaNow capability, along with the industry’s leading online support system, AQUOS Advantagesm Live. And, with built-in WiFi, connectivity is easier than ever. Dual USB media players for portable video/music player are also included for your convenience.

Features Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) Resolution - with more than 8 million dots for the sharpest picture possible. Quad Pixel Technology - RGBY filter adds yellow to the traditional RGB sub-pixel components, enabling the display of many colors never before seen on TV. Smart TV - delivers Netflix, CinemaNow and Vudu™ streaming video, customized Internet content and live customer support via built-in Wi-Fi. (Netflix membership required for Netflix instant streaming. Membership and/or fees may apply.) Built-in Wi-Fi - no additional hardware needed. UltraBrilliant LED system - includes a unique "double-dome" light amplifier lens and multi-fluorescents, enabling high brightness and color purity. Full HD 1080p X-Gen LCD Panel - is designed with advanced pixel control to minimize light leakage and a wider aperture to let more light through, providing the industry's highest contrast level. AquoMotion 240 - virtually eliminates blur and artifacts on fast-motion picture quality. AQUOS LINK™ - enables convenient control of AQUOS Blu-ray Disc™ players. USB Viewer with Music Player - enables enjoyment of high-resolution digital video, JPEG images and MP3 music files. Vyper Drive - enhances the experience for video games by reducing lag times.

Are you going to watch it or live in it?

Just my personal opinion but that is the very TV I wanted to purchase if the price had been right on Black Friday. Only one I’ve seen locally is at Sam’s so it’s their price or nothing and I’m going to pass until the price goes down considerably. Mitsubishi has now come out with an 82” so the 70” isn’t the big dog any longer. Sam’s priced the TV at $3500 or so and dropped it by $600 within a few months. It’s still around $2700 and that’s a lot more than I’m willing to pay right now.

In Real Estate the Three Main Points to remember is:

1. Location

2. Location

3. Location

The Same goes for HDTVs but instead it's

1. Refresh Rate

2. Refresh Rate

3. Refresh Rate

(You can have the greatest resolution possible BUT if the refresh rate sucks then you get motion blur out the yin yang!)

I have a HDTV Flat Panel LG Brand for $650. What would I need a larger screen for?

I am perfectly happy with this size of screen. Now you have an auditorum-sized room I can see maybe a 70” screen. Of course it is going to cost much much more!

It’s your money! I live frugally but comfortable.

Aquos makes a fine HDTV - is it 3D capable?

I just bought a 47" LG LED 3D to replace my Sony Bravia - anything much larger would overpower my living room.

Absolutely fabulous picture in 2D or 3d, even comes with a special 3D simulation mode which takes a 2D picture and makes it appear to be 3D. Every bit the picture quality of the Samsung or Sony.

$855.00 at Costco, added a five year warranty for $60.00.

Read the reviews on Amazon. You get a good people meter there. A friend just bought an LG 47” 3d...I helped him set it up. He is very happy with it. Another bought a 55” Samsung LED TV.

These TVs are so sharp that old shows like Gunsmoke might disappoint you. Can look grainy. You can blow a few thou on such TVs but you are wasting your time if you don’t get the HD channels to go along with them.

Why stop at 70”? Why not just get a drive-in theater? :P

Hey, I bet for the right price we can get a projector that puts images on the moon!

I guess you could string Christmas lights from it, but that might attract aircraft looking for a place to land.

OK, I am done and this wasn’t funny or helpful at all. I should be ashamed of myself, especially since I’m not drunk.

I recently bought a Phillips 55 Inch TV from Sams for about $950. Model number is 55PLFL570D/F7.

The HD picture quality is incredibly good.

That is the same TV we have. Make sure you use HDM [or whatever] cables to get the best picture. We have a large living area and I can watch from any area in the room.

You can justify the price by saying that the 80" model (AQUOS LC-80LE632U 80" LED-LCD TV - 16:9 - HDTV 1080p - 1080p - 120 Hz) which as of right now goes for $4,375.88 at Amazon.

Have you seen the commercials for this one? They use words like "Viewmongous".

I bought that TV a few month’s back. I am very happy with it. The picture is so bright that most of the movies look like video tapes. You won’t regret it.
