The largest civil rights group in America, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), is petitioning the UN over what it sees as a concerted efforted to disenfranchise black and Latino voters ahead of next year's presidential election.

The organisation will this week present evidence to the UN high commissioner on human rights of what it contends is a conscious attempt to "block the vote" on the part of state legislatures across the US. Next March the NAACP will send a delegation of legal experts to Geneva to enlist the support of the UN human rights council.

The NAACP contends that the America in the throes of a consciously conceived and orchestrated move to strip black and other ethnic minority groups of the right to vote. William Barber, a member of the association's national board, said it was the "most vicious, co-ordinated and sinister attack to narrow participation in our democracy since the early 20th century".

In its report, Defending Democracy: Confronting Modern Barriers to Voting Rights in America, the NAACP explores the voter supression measures taking place particularly in southern and western states.

Fourteen states have passed a total of 25 measures that will unfairly restrict the right to vote, among black and Hispanic voters in particular.

We have a voter ID law in Michigan. Guess I just wasn't aware that the ID used to cash welfare checks wasn't good enough for voting. /s

I know in FL that it’s illegal to carry in a polling place. If it does get to the point of violence, I would pray that it’s in our favor.

This is complete BS! I am nearing 100% certainty that this country is not going to make it another year. Obama still have over a year left to his reign, assuming he loses the election next November.

The pieces are falling into place very quickly now, and I’m very afraid for myself and my family. Stock up on essentials now, as I’m starting to feel that lines of communication will be broken and transportation disrupted in short order. Just look at what’s happening with the postal service and this abomination of a bill that will allow wholesale shutdown of the Internet and telecommunications with the flick of a switch.

Like the old Chinese curse says, “May you live in interesting times.”

Acorn was just a branch of the NAACP.These groups look out for their elite like the Jackson’s and Sharptons.Over the life of the NAACP they have never stood up against drugs, out of wedlock children and prostitution. Any educated black that is not in the NAACP for money knows they are a farce. They must be getting short on cash.

Nothing in the article would impede a LEGAL AMERICAN VOTER from voting.
Bunch of whiney babies.

The biggest problem with voting is that groups like the NAACP have told black voters that they must vote for Obama or their houses will burn down and their babies will be killed in their beds.

No doubt the NAACP can do that eh.

I have been voting since 1964. Not one time have I had to prove my race. Most of those years I have lived in the deep South.

I’m getting a little tired of the outright lies and manufactured facts.

Keyword missing is non-citizen in the above sentence. Elections belong to citizens, of the nation, in which that citizen resides. Non-citizens have no right to vote, in that nation.

Guess the petition also includes a clause to allow the world to vote in American elections. Since according to the un the world knows better what is for the U.S.A. than her citizens. Know the naalcp (keyword - liberals) believe this.

“The report also draws attention to the case of Mexico, which is often cited as an example when the subject of Voter I.D. cards is discussed. Indeed, the Mexican Voter I.D. card has NINE security characteristics, including a fingerprint, a photograph, watermarks and holograms. What is more, in Mexico, the lists of electors that are distributed to political parties include the photo and the full name and address of the electors.”

No wonder Mexicans want to vote in the USA...its easier than voting in Mexico......

It has always puzzled me how a country which consistently poles center-right...could elect a communist who looted the US Treasury...without SUBSTANTIAL overseas “input” to the US Elections...

tell me that’s NOT what was going on in Berlin in July 2008

Because the lounge I was in was at a function hall full of Democrat poll workers. One boy-o from Southie bragged to me about how he and five of his friends voted in every ward in Boston on election day 2008. This is how it’s done. There are “Good Voter” lists available through the city clerk. Then there is the “List of Persons”. This book contains the names, addresses, occupations, party affiliation, labels you as an “In-Active” voter if applicable and date of birth of everyone in a city for the last two years. They check the book against the voter list. If a registered voter has not voted in the last two elections they assume you won’t vote in the current one. So they take your place. Nice huh?

I’ve long suspected this kind of thing to be the case, and frankly, in 2008 I believe I arguably witnessed this happening in front of my own eyes. I had volunteered, in San Diego, to be a poll watcher — i.e. I could go and see the lists of who had voted, (of republicans) and call them up if they had not voted yet to remind them to get out the vote. IN MY OWN NEIGHBORHOOD, it was a *very* white area. There were a fair amount of Hispanics, but VIRTUALLY no black people. Once in a while, you’d see them at the supermarket. But I’m talking maybe 1 in 100 faces would be black. SD has a low black population anyway, but particularly in the section of town I lived in.

Well, late in the day, I visited one polling place 2 streets over from where I live. It was JAMMED with black people. Seriously, at least 35 — that was about the only ‘color’ there at that time. I honestly don’t think there were that many black people that lived in my neighborhood TOTAL. And given there’s a polling place every few streets, I know there is no way in hell all those people lived in that area.

It actually turned me sick to my stomach — but there is no way to ‘call them on it.’ In California, you don’t have to show SQUAT to vote. No id at all. The Democraps love this because they can get away with voter fraud time and again, and there’s nothing the honest person can do to stop cheaters from voting multiple times. Not hard in the last two hours to go down to a polling place, glance at an name that hasn’t voted, and steal their identity to say you are them. Then move on to the next station and do the same there.
