Economy Creates 120,000 Jobs, Rate Tumbles to 8.6%
CNBC ^ | 12-2-2011 | Jeff Cox

Job creation remained weak in the U.S. during November, with just 120,000 new positions created, though the unemployment rate slid to 8.6 percent, a government report showed Friday.

The rate fell from the previous month's 9.0 percent, which would reflect a drop in the participation rate among those without jobs.

Average earnings were essentially flat, up two cents to $23.18 an hour. Private payrolls increased 140,000, considerably less than a report earlier this week showing that nongovernment jobs were up by more than 200,000 for the month.

Even FoxNews was scoffing at the 8.6% number as being viable.

They implied it was due to many who just quit looking for jobs.

[Wait until next summer. The numbers will be manipulated and mangled beyond belief to rehabilitate and resurrect The One and his candidacy. The GOP better wake up, because their road to the 2012 election is not going to be the shoo-in they have been claiming.]

Good news!

Chocolate rations have been increased from 1/2 ounce per day to .4 ounces per day!

And in other news......our Great Reader (peas be upon him) has decreed that in the interest of health and safety....all chocolate will be double wrapped in regulation double thickness waxed card (for the safety of the children)....

and in order to ensure greater economies throughout the country...will be inlcuded in the total weight of the contents....

This will also apply to meat, cheese and any other perishable food product.

When they extend unemployment money then those same people that got dropped will be added again and the rate will skyrocket.

over 300,000 left the work force due to them running out unemployment and not looking for a job.

The media, well the crap biased group we call the media will run with this as if it is great and will not tell the public the real numbers yet again.

“Christmas surge in hiring - will drop again after the Holidays”

Umm would’nt this be refelctive in the jobs created number which wasn’t that great? Certainly not enough to drop the needle .4%, Seems to me the drop came from those giving up looking and those whom unemplyment ran out.

Even ultra-lib US Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) said on the radio yesterday that ‘real’ unemployment was twice as high as reported statistics. I think he said 28 million real unemployed vs. 14 million reported unemployed.

It is very strange for Harkin to say something when it is bad for Obama.

These numbers are not to be trusted.

Probably not, but if the electorate begins to have a better perception of the economy, Obama will be reelected. That's especially true if our nominee is either Romney, whom far too many conservatives won't vote for, or Gingrich, who is all wrong for the shallow visual-appearance-is-everything times we live in.

somebody please remind me...why We the People pay our employees and the BLS to generate numbers that support a political objective...rather than to inform their employers?

“By June 2012, they are going to be saying the unemployment rate is 7.5....count on it. This has been part of the plan forever.”

And they will be able to convince 51% that Obama needs 4 more years “to undo the damage from Bush”.

Eric Boling on FOX just got done blowing this lie out of the water.

He used a whiteboard to show how the math is not correct.

Now Obozo to come out in the next hour and crow about how his plan is working.

What a bunch of bullsheet.

My thought when I saw the 8.6% headline — “the re-elect Obama manipulation of unemployment reports begins.”

I would not be surprised that the “official” unemployment rate is rigged to be “at” 5% before election day. Just don’t count all those who’ve stopped looking for work.

Several hundred thousand QUIT LOOKING for work! They are no longer counted in the labor force. There must be millions more workers like this. The unemployment numbers are meaningless by now.

just said the same to my wife.
By next year for the election the rate will be reported as 7% by this corrupt media and they will not inform the public what the real rate is and how many have gone off the roles or forced into early retirement.

In hate this media, the bias and lies pisses me off so much.

I like Bolling When the five first came on I tried to watch it but I just couldn't after a couple of months due to Beckel, Perino, the flat nosed idiot who thinks he is funny and Tantaros who never puts in a decent argument against her pal Beckel. I felt bad for Bolling as Beckel just seems like an angry bitter old union hack.. My question is . Is Bolling still on that show and if so how on earth does he put up with Beckel? I'd have reached across and smacked the fool by now

That is the saddest commentary on our economy I have ever seen.

It drives home the fact that Americans are are increasingly no longer producers of products, we are becoming retailers for products manufactured in China and other places.

I guess the end point is Americans working one month a year selling Chinese Big Screens to earn the money to buy a new Big Screen every year.

Orwell was prophetic. In January, this 8.6% will go down the memory hole, replaced by a higher revised number, which won’t quite reach 9.0% but will still be spun as heading in a downward, positive direction, compared to 9.0%.

Shouldn’t matter what the heck the press reports about job growth,
everyone without a job knows how hard it has been to find a job. Where
this subject is concerned they can report anything they want to, it is not
Going to make jobs appear out of thin air!!!
