According to a study by Rice University’s Baker Institute…

The U.S. shale gas boom has not only virtually eliminates the need for U.S. liquefied natural gas imports for at least two decades, but significantly reduced Russia’s influence over the European natural gas market and diminished the petro-power of major gas producers in the Middle East and Venezuela…

Best guess is that the administration will discover horrific environmental impact of current and all future fracking (hydraulic fracturing) protocols. Thousands of the discredited MMGW pimp science community will re-energize their defunct fear monger agenda to mount the frack attack head on. Years will pass. R.

I read in an article in the WSJ that thevshale gas boom is justbgetting started in some other red states, like Texas Anne OK. Ohio is also going for the shale gas.

Shale gas helped turn Blue PA Red, maybe it can help influence Ohio, too.

I read the Europeans are doing their own horizontal shale gas frack drilling and getting good results. This “homegrown” gas will also get them free of the Russian yoke. Good luck to them, Poland was one country mentioned

(from the Economist)
Energy in Poland
Fracking heaven
Other Europeans fear fracking. Poland is steaming ahead

Jun 23rd 2011 | WARSAW | from the print edition

POLAND may have western Europe’s largest reserves of shale gas. A dozen global gas-exploration companies have promised to drill as many as 120 test wells over the next few years to find out. The prize could be trillions of cubic metres of gas. It is “a huge and expensive gamble”, says Tomasz Maj, the head of Polish operations for Talisman Energy, one of the exploration firms. The rewards could be vast. Shale gas could free the country from its dependence on coal, a dirtier fuel, which currently accounts for 95% of Polish power generation. It could also mean that Poland no longer has to rely on Russia, the neighbourhood bully, for most of its natural gas.

Yes, that’s true and now the US companies plan to start exporting refined product from the Gulf coast refineries.

The west coast refineries can trine the Canadian shale oil and there won’t be anything that Obama can do to slow down fossil fuel boom. Obama may go ahead with the rules against tradition al coal burning power plants, but any company or state that converts to anything but gas is foolish.

Gas is the future, coal is the past.

Russian blackmailers must be chagrined at this development.
