On the downside it appears that long-time State Sen. Edd Houck (D) may have pulled out a squeaker over challenger Bryce Reeve. The difference is just over a 100 votes with one precinct not reporting yet.

Last I saw it looked like the Dems were going to hold the VA state senate. If that is the end result, it will be a huge disappointment. There were still a lot of close races, but it wasn't looking good.

The Democrats are dug in deep all over, and even with a relatively unpopular president and a horrible economy it is just very difficult to dislodge them. Anyone who thinks 2012 is going to be a cakewalk is deluding themselves.

Scrub my #4 just now then. Better a wake up call now, though, to rally the troops, than a rude awakening on a November evening 1 year from now.

I strongly agree.

Obama has money. Lots of it. Union money, Wall Street money, etc.

Depsite his poor polling numbers, he has a strong plurality of voters who’ll crawl over broken glass to vote for him - blacks, Hispanics, white liberals, etc.

He has a media that will be as every bit in the bag for him in 2012 as they were in 2008.

I don’t care who our nominee is. it can be Romney, Paul or Perry. But that nominee better be focused and our overall GOP message better be on target.

maybe not. Senate 17 is not over yet. I think they are going to go to a recount.

“Anyone who thinks 2012 is going to be a cakewalk is deluding themselves.”

Exactly. It’s unbelievable how well Obama’s numbers are holding up against all the GOP candidates, in spite of his horrible economy and march towards socialism.

If there’s even the smallest rebound in the economy, Obama will become the “comeback kid”.
