On the downside it appears that long-time State Sen. Edd Houck (D) may have pulled out a squeaker over challenger Bryce Reeve. The difference is just over a 100 votes with one precinct not reporting yet.

Last I saw it looked like the Dems were going to hold the VA state senate. If that is the end result, it will be a huge disappointment. There were still a lot of close races, but it wasn't looking good.

The Democrats are dug in deep all over, and even with a relatively unpopular president and a horrible economy it is just very difficult to dislodge them. Anyone who thinks 2012 is going to be a cakewalk is deluding themselves.

I think that Houck will win, the last precinct is in Fredericksburg and it will probably push him out of recount range.

It’s a shame the GOP only picked up 1 seat Senate with all that money spent, but Dem sure can gerrymander with the best of them.

Wait a minute, the numbers just changed and now Reeve’s is up by 200 with one precinct left. It may not be over yet!

All we need is this seat and Bolling is the tie-breaker. We already won one of the Dem’s seats.

WRC Channel 4 initially reported that DEMs kept control of the VA Senate at the beginning of the 11 pm news. At the end of the news, they reported that GOP may have won the last seat. This would put GOP over the top - but there will be an obvious recount ...
