As Gingrich gains and Cain fades, Romney steps up his game in Iowa

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is stepping up his campaign operation in Iowa, but he may face stiff competition in the form of resurgent former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich, who has seen his once-moribund campaign bounce back in the polls in recent weeks, now leads Romney and narrowly trails embattled former pizza mogul Herman Cain in the Hawkeye State. He received an enthusiastic response from the GOP faithful at a Republican Party dinner held over the weekend, and with Cain’s front-runner status in jeopardy due to sexual harassment allegations, Gingrich could become the consensus anti-Romney candidate conservative activists have been waiting for.

“If Cain’s problems do real damage, the next beneficiary is likely to be Gingrich,” GOP consultant Phil Musser told the Wall Street Journal on Monday.

According to the ‘accusers’ I would say that Cain has the biggest ones.

What I want is someone with common sense who is not a career politician...I take Cain

Yep, Noot has never been enough of a threat to warrant firing up the DNC-Liberal Media slime machine, but just watch and see if he continues to climb in the polls.

And, Cain is not “fading”...

Verse for Herman Cain: “Yet the righteous will hold to his way, And he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger” (Job 17:9).

Amen!

Helping smearing Cain based on nothing but highly dubious accusations simply because you personally have an emotion based distastes for the accused is the highly risky strategy here

Freepers will remember who helped pimp the smear and who helped defend the right.

You are running a serious risk with your future creditably as a Freeper here. Really want to be remember every time you post as part of the Cain smear squad?

[”I want a leader with big ones....and that's Newt...
He may not be perfect...but he's the only one of the lot on top of everything.”]

Especially in regards to sitting on the Global Warming Couch with Nancy Pelosi! He sure IS “on top” of things when it comes to pandering for the headlines.

The difference is NEWT knows they are going to gunning for him while Cain was shocked at how “nitpicking” the media is???? during the very FIRST republican debate...Newt attacked the media for trying to turn all the candidates against each other instead of Obama. DO NOT LOSE SIGHT ON OUR BULLEYES....OBOMMIE THE COMMIE HAS TO GO

Uh except Cain is not fading, Gingrich can’t stay zipped up, and Mitt thinks he will be a god when he croaks.

Although I agree with most of what Gingrich is saying at the moment, he has some character issues that make me less than enthusiastic about him. For one thing, immediately after he appointed Christina Jeffrey to the post of House Historian, he fired her after liberals and leftists quoted her writings out of context. If he’s elected president, the same thing will happen to his Cabinet and judicial appointees. Can he be trusted to stand by them?

One would think that the lengths Gingrich went to are far beyond simple “Photo Opps”. It was the ultimate betrayal as well as quite revealing in regards to who and what Gingrich is.

It's on the record and cannot be excused.

You are not a Christian, what is a “good” marriage, one sanctioned by Satan due to selfishness, betrayal, lies and damaged children? You need to re evaluate this. Your true aunt was done wrong by the little robber who you like.

If any of the candidates think truly that the same thing that happened with Palin and Cain and others will not happen to them, they are sadly mistaken. While they may enjoy it when they are benefitting, it won’t be so fun when it rains down on them later on and there is NOBODY left there to stand up for them. This will continue until the people on the right decide to present a united front like the Democrats do. George Allen was taken cown by ONE word uttered, Sarah Palin by digging through her trash and emails and NOTHING being found, release of divorce papers took down Obama’s potential opponent in the senate race, Perry probably would be taken down by a word written on a rock, Newt by the not true story about the bedside divorce, and on and on and on. This must stop.

I don’t know if this is temporary or not but he has gone from leading Romney to being tied with Romney. Does that fit the defintion of fading? Depends on who you ask. Romney is stuck in the low to mid twentys, Perry has come and gone,Cain has surged lately and we will have to see....there is only one candidate to date who is slowly but surely rising to the top and thats Newt Gingrich. I’m not ready to get on his train yet but I am waiting at the station. Thing about Newt is all his warts have been out there for years, as for I know there aren’t anymore.
