Perry Connection to Cain Sex Harass Story?
Fox News ^ | November 2, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

Interviewed today on KTOK’s Mullins in the Morning, [Chris] Wilson, of Wilson-Perkins-Allen Opinion Research headquartered in Washington, D.C. explained he was a witness to the incident. “I was the pollster at the National Restaurant Association when Herman Cain was head of it and I was around a couple of times when this happened and anyone who was involved with the NRA at the time, knew that this was gonna come up.”

However, Wilson isn’t only linked to NRA and Cain from years gone by. His firm has conducted polling in this presidential race for the Make Us Great Again PAC. And guess which candidate is favored by MUGA-PAC? Why, none other than … Rick Perry.

Oklahoma Pollster confirms he witnessed incident involving Cain

"This occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City (Virginia) and everybody was aware of it," said Wilson, who was a consultant for the organization at the time, in the KTOK interview. "It was only a matter of time because so many people were aware of what took place, so many people were aware of her situation, the fact she left-everybody knew with the campaign that this would eventually come up."

Wilson would not elaborate beyond his comments to the radio station. He has dismissed any notion that he commented on this for political reasons. He told CNN "I had nothing to do with leaking this in any way, and I've never discussed or shared this story with any of my clients – period."

Cain Says Perry Camp Behind Sex Harassment Leak

.....”One of the firm’s partners, Curt Anderson, worked on Cain’s losing 2004 U.S. Senate campaign. Cain thinks he’s the hired political gun who leaked details to Politico, a Washington trade publication, of alleged “sexually suggestive behavior” Cain is said to have exhibited towards two women while he ran the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s. That story set off a media frenzy which has quickly put Cain’s campaign on the defense.

In the summer of 2003, Cain recalls briefing Anderson—his general campaign consultant at the time—that sexual harassment claims were brought against him while he was chairman of the National Restaurant Association from 1996 to 1999.

“I told my wife about this in 1999 and I’ve got nothing to hide,” Cain told me Wednesday. “When I sat down with my general campaign consultant Curt Anderson in a private room in our campaign offices in 2003 we discussed opposition research on me. It was a typical campaign conversation. I told him that there was only one case, one set of charges, one woman while I was at the National Restaurant Association. Those charges were baseless, but I thought he needed to know about them. I don’t recall anyone else being in the room when I told him.”....

Well this will definitely help Perry move in the polls...

I figure down another 2 points, maybe 3...

America's best hope is that the American people will see all this for exactly what it is: a politically motivated attempt to destroy Herman Cain.

If the American people lack the wisdom to understand this and ignore the claims (there will be more to come--much, much more!), then America is decadent beyond salvation and will fall.

So not being able to answer questions, Herman Cain lashes out at Rick Perry.

Herman Cain has the problem here.

I read another poster on FR was saying it was Romney because his father worked with someone who’s son worked at NRA.

I mean, really!

I don’t know if Perry’s camp is behind this or not, but it does seem that Perry would probably gain the most from a Cain derailment. Mitt isn’t going to get Cain voters, and Perry is in desperate straits to keep his campaign alive.

Of course, it could be a whole ‘nother bunch of folks behind this, too. I’ve noticed precious few professional flacks inside the Beltway honor Reagan’s 11th Commandment. There are surely a lot of “Herman can’t win” types relishing the thought of Cain being knocked out by these allegations.

Either way, I’m not buying any of the allegations made so far. Nothing I’ve seen or heard suggests that anything resembling genuine sexual harassment ever took place between Cain and any employee.

Once Cain accused Perry of doing this, one of 2 things must happen:

1) it’s over for Perry
2) it’s over for Cain

They can’t both remain viable once this accusation is on the table.

Either Cain is right and Perry goes down in flames... or Cain is wrong... and the Cain Train becomes the Cain Train Wreck.

There is absolutely no room in the current situation for maintenance of the status quo.

“I’ve known Herman Cain for about 7 years.
I was one of several consultants on his
Senate race in 2004 and was proud to help him.
I’d never heard any of these allegations
until I read them in Politico,
nor does anything I read in the press change my opinion
that Herman is an upstanding man and a gentleman. I
have great respect for Herman and his character
and I would never speak ill of him,
on the record or off the record.
That’s true today and it’s not going to change.”

I don’t believe the Perry campaign is behind this but why attack them? Herman Cain’s behaviour is at issue here. Not Perry’s or Rommney’s or Rove’s.

IT WAS NOT CHRIS WILSON WHO THE CAIN CAMPAIGN IS CLAIMING LEAKED IT.

It was Perry political consultant Curt Anderson, NOT Chris Wilson, who the Cain camp is pointing the fingers at.

See Cain Says Perry Camp Behind Sex Harassment Leak

The story posted in this thread by the Perry camp is meant to throw smoke in everyone's eyes.

And look who just floats above it all, Romney. How convenient.

I think you overstate Perry's weakness at this point. He's been down before and alwasy manages to come out ahead. Ask Governor Hutchison of Texas what kind of a campaigner Rick Perry is.

Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan said it was “patently untrue” that the Perry campaign had any role in placing the sexual harassment story with Politico.

That's possible but I really think it's over for Cain. He can't come up with a straight story and he's had more than 2 weeks now to do so. In desperation he attempts to smear Perry with his dirty laundry. The act of a drowning man.

I’m just saying what I think is GOING to happen.

I’m making a PREDICTION, not expressing a PREFERENCE.

Once Cain makes this accusation, it’s over for one of the two of them.

Period.

Forget about Romney in this. In a sense, he’s not involved EVEN IF HE’S THE GUILTY PARTY.

Once CAIN accuses PERRY, the accusation either STICKS TO PERRY or it BACKFIRES ON CAIN.

I don’t know if it’s possible to be more clear on that point but if need be I’ll try again.

Let me know if you think it’s necessary.

I’m not disagreeing with you.

I’m saying it’s over for one of them.

You’re saying Cain is the one.

If you’re right, that doesn’t invalidate what I’m saying.

In a fairly short time, either Cain or Perry is going to be for all intents and purposes out of the race.

That’s all I’m saying.
