Rick Perry's troubles weren't limited to the debate floor on Tuesday night.
After the Washington Post/Bloomberg forum, the Texas governor made an appearance at a Dartmouth College fraternity house, where he appeared to mix up the dates of the Revolutionary War.
The gaffe occurred when Perry was asked about states' rights during a question-and-answer session at Dartmouth's Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
"Our Founding Fathers never meant for Washington, D.C. to be the fount of all wisdom," Perry said, per ABC's Arlette Saenz. "As a matter of fact they were very much afraid if that because they'd just had this experience with this far-away government that had centralized thought process and planning and what have you, and then it was actually the reason that we fought the revolution in the 16th century was to get away from that kind of onerous crown if you will."

Simple slip of the tongue. Doesn’t disturb be a bit. Not worth mentioning actually.
So he misplaced a couple of centuries!
It’s not like he’s soft on illigal immigration or anything...
Easy mistake, he subtracted instead of added 1 to 17__. I have to pause and think about it myself and I have reason to know.
Oh good grief! It was a slip of the tongue. Do you honestly believ that Perry thinks the Revolution was fought in the 1500’s? Why play the liberals stupid little game?

Perry is such an idiot, next thing you know, he’ll say something like there are 57 states. I am sure if any other candidate said something like this country has 57 states, the media would go nuts. Am i right? Am I right????
I wonder if Yahoo was concerned if the gaffe was with regard to the rights of all 57 states.
It happens to the best of us.
I’d cut him some slack on this. I always screw up centuries, so I generally refer to years like 1700s so I don’t have to figure out on the fly whether to add one or subtract one to see if the Revolutionary War was in the 18th or 16th century.
Which he's not. Why don't you borrow a copy of his book and read about what HE says his stand on immigration is and see what HE says he'd do as President and what he's been calling on the feds to do for his entire term as Governor?
Obama signed the British Visitor’s Registry 2008...in 2011!!!
I do the same and if I DO refer to the 16th or 18th century I alwasy have to stop and remeber if you add 100 or subtract 100. Not a big deal.
I still pause and think, too....When I’m doing a lot of historical work, I find myself dating my letters/bills wrong by a couple of centuries.
Is Dartmouth College near our 57th state?
Honestly I’m not thrilled with the American Idol style judgements we’re using for these debates. On the other hand it has forced me to go looking for more info and frankly to me, it looks like Bachmann has the most comprehensive and clear plans.
Obviously this is just a listing but more explanation can be found on her site under issues.

1.REPATRIATION (I don’t really understand this one)
2.CUT SPENDING AND GOVERNMENT.
3.REPEAL OBAMACARE.
4. CUT TAXES.
5. REPEAL THE JOBS AND HOUSING DESTRUCTION ACT, ALSO KNOWN AS DODD-FRANK.
6. LEGALIZE AMERICAN ENERGY PRODUCTION AND AMERICA’S NATURAL RESOURCES.
7. REPEAL JOB KILLING REGULATIONS.
8. INCREASE EXPORTS.
9. UNLEASH AMERICAN INVESTMENT
10. PAVE A PATHWAY FOR INNOVATION.
11. ENFORCE AMERICAN IMMIGRATION LAWS.
I really don’t care about the American Idol judgements. I want something real.
I hate to say it but it’s a waste of time to try to educate some on this. Their minds are closed.
yahoo can piss off, and take a long ride on the Intercontinental Railroad with Hussein. Through all 57 states.
And yet the MSM never mentions, corpesman, 57 states or the intercontinental railroad. Even spell check knows it is supposed to be corpsman. Too many gaffes to count but no one points out what an idiot our fake President is.
