Poll: Obama seen as smartest, most honest candidate
Washington Post ^ | Oct 5, 2011 | Adelle M. Banks

Americans consider President Obama to be the smartest and most honest presidential candidate against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, according to a new poll, but religious groups differ on their views of the candidates' attributes.

Among evangelicals, Perry scored the highest and Romney scored the lowest, though Romney tied with Obama on leadership skills. ... Catholics overwhelmingly ranked Obama higher than the other two candidates in all four categories.

Honestly, does anyone believe this poll?

Mr. Obama received the highest scores for perceived honesty.

Wait until Fast/Furious and Gunrunner hit.

Mr. Obama's intelligence was rated "excellent" by 39%, and "good" by 29%.

Time to demand he release his college grades and papers.

A much closer competition concerned the perceived philosophy of government embraced by each man. Mr. Obama had the highest ratings (19% excellent, 26% good)...

Here the poll lost me. Unless perceived philosophy for government is code for screwing things up how could this be correct. What is his perceived philosophy of government - fascism?

On the matter of leadership ability, Mr. Obama had the highest "top box" score (17% "excellent") along with an additional 25% awarding a "good" rating – a total of 42% who gave him an above average score.

This part of the poll must have been taken in Europe.

“And you think it will be easy to defeat Obama, when the electorate is this ignorant... “

I guess if they’re comparing Obama to Perry they have a point.

Cain, of course, has some serious degrees from really tough colleges. Not to mention that he knows how to run a business.

There are still plenty of fools that see him this way. Which says a lot more about the electorate than it says about Obama.

OTOH, the WP has a solid record of producing “polls” that are more designed to influence public opinion than honestly measure it. The WP reports what it HOPES IS happening, not necessarily what IS happening.

Expect *a lot* more of this as we get closer to the real campaign season and election. The worse it looks for Zero, the more polls like this will be appearing in this rag.

"And you think it will be easy to defeat Obama, when the electorate is this ignorant..."

Are you kidding me? The American electorate hasn't been stupid, in the aggregate, since the inception of the republic.

Yes, now that Palin is out, Obama is in.

In in a cake walk.

Romney is the only remaining candidate that can beat Obama, and the Tea Party will not vote for him.

If the republic survives until 2016, it will be our next chance.

Barna is a Christian company which sells an extensive line of instructional materials. Their pollig is designed to create the illusion of a crisis that can be fixed with their materials. Their polling is awful and is basically push polling.

They are not, repeat not, a legitimate polling source.....it nothing more than marketing.

As Tiberius Caesar said to Caligula:

“Rome deserves you.”

They did.

I had to check the source on the article, and not surprisingly given the headline, it was the WaPo, which has the news accuracy of "The Onion," without all that confusing satire and humor.

“Well, the Catholics seem to think he walks on water — can’t believe how they can vote for an anti-life person, such as Obama.”

It was obvious how you skipped most of the article so you could get to the Catholics.

Buried in the article

Survey respondents were asked if, "Based only on his performance as president" Mr. Obama "does or does not deserve to be re-elected as president." Only one-third of adults said he does deserve re-election, while four out of ten said he does not. The key to the ultimate election outcome, though, is the one-fourth who said they had not made up their mind yet.

“It was obvious how you skipped most of the article so you could get to the Catholics.”

The Catholics are supposed to be the most pro-life, yet they keep voting for Dems and Obama, who are clearly anti-life. I have trouble understanding that.

Next question.

You have to understand that for the press with an average IQ of 75, Obama would appear to be brilliant.

Most journalism majors are those who have flunked out of real educational pursuits, like science, medicine, math , engineering, accounting. They rate down at the bottom with the teachers and political science low lifes.

Here’s a challenge - offer anyone a $100 bill if they can prove with measurable data that Obama is smart - college or high school grades, IQ test results, whatever. It will be the safest $100 you could ever have.

Thank you, CaptainK. I appreciate the info.

I, like many others don’t always read the whole piece when the title is disgusting.
