[ EMP - my first thought as well.

Folks, go get the Jericho series...
it might be a documentary. ]

I like the fact that Texas or the “Republic of Texas” is portrayed as “The Goos Guys” in that series.

Of course it kinda makes sense, but in the scenario the nukes were detonated onthe ground in cities so the EMP wouldn’t be nearly as bad as a space based EMP attack via short range ballistic missle over the US.

I would imagine if Iran stuck they would detonate multiple EMP payloads at once from multiple rockets top prevent us from attempting to shoot down the missles, if only one makes it through we are SOL.

Actually, in the TV series, nuclear bombs in white trucks detonated simultaneously in 23 U.S. cities at 8:05 PM Eastern time. Mysterious higher ups in the U.S. government were the masterminds of the plot. Ironically, Iran and North Korea got the blame.

The truck in New York City was discovered in Manhattan and the bomb defused before it had a chance to detonate. Another truck headed for Columbus, Ohio, was diverted to the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas, by Robert Hawkins, an undercover FBI agent in “Jericho.”

After the initial attacks, some power was restored in Jericho, but then one night the town’s residents saw a rocket in the night sky, and that was the EMP attack that fried the fragile power grid and whatever technology remained in the small town. It was never explained who caused the EMP.

“Jericho” was one of the few TV series that had me sitting on the edge of my chair. There’s rumors of a “Jericho” movie picking up where the series left off.
