Republican Delusion is Obama's All-Too-Secret Weapon

By John Ziegler

When exactly did Republicans seemingly become so delusional?

The first sign that the GOP base had left the gravitational pull of the rational earth in the Obama era was when professional blowhard Donald Trump shot to the top of the presidential polls on the strength of his bogus birth certificate crusade.  Fortunately, that particular problem took care of itself (at least for now), but the overall situation may have actually gotten worse.  The most troubling part is that the vast majority of the party's rank and file seems to have no idea the peril its prospects of unseating President Obama are really in.

There is no doubt that Obama is very vulnerable, far more so than most observers (including me) believed likely when he was swept into office by a tidal wave of biased media coverage less than three years ago. His approval ratings are in the low forties, and in many of the battleground states he appears to be a heavy underdog. The census-induced changes in the Electoral College slice his margin of error to almost nothing, and the economy shows very little sign of improving enough to rescue him. He has also left a trail of damningly false televised statements which should make for great attack ad fodder.

And yet the Republican Party appears on the verge of making Obama's reelection about as likely as the circumstances surrounding his presidency would make possible. Consequently, this golden opportunity to help the country largely dodge the Obama bullet is on the verge of being squandered.

On paper, a two-term Middlewestern governor who balanced budgets without raising income taxes, a social and fiscal conservative who wasn't identified with any particular wing of the party would be a formidable candidate.

But Pawlenty wasn't "on paper". He was a real, live candidate.

And, upon exposure, it was apparent he was going nowhere.

So, why hold him up as a paradigm?

Ziegler's premise is just stupid.

John Ziegler is a former radio talk show host, television commentator, and author turned documentary filmmaker. His feature film, Media Malpractice...How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted was released nationwide via Video On Demand.
This is the guy that recently trashed Sarah:

Legit point.
However, How do you get past...

her premature resignation as governor of Alaska completely disqualifies her as the person who should take on Obama. Even if she hadn't already been unfairly destroyed during the 2008 election, quitting her only major job, in a way that appears to have been designed for her to stay famous and get rich, would make it impossible for her to take on an incumbent president. Not surprisingly, in nearly every head-to-head poll Palin does worse against Obama than every other Republican candidate. Her fans have seemingly forgotten about the resignation, but were she ever to get the nomination the nation would be reminded of it on a daily basis.

There is one simple truth to contemplate.

45% Will Pull the (R) lever, and 45% will pull the Dem lever.

Does that fact get you, or lose you 6 of the remining 10%

Will 2012 follow conventional wisdom? I think that we’re in uncharted water, almost anything could happen.

My thinking is any Repub challenger gets the 2008 Map.
At least.

As long as they do not have St.Sarah’s baggage

Somehow, I never thought of John Ziegler as a spokesman for the GOP Establishment. But there it is... ...

Yes, there it is.

Of course, the RiNOrati will have some help bringing all the wayward Tea Partiers into camp ..... he's called Rick Perry.

With Romney safely in possession of the one and only nomination, and Perry on the bottom of the ticket as the consolation prize, the RiNOs are betting that the Tea Partiers can be face-grappled into line with the old RiNO Death Grip and the mastering rant -- "WE own the Party, WE are the Party -- get under the table, dogs, and feed on the scraps we drop to you!"

My thinking is, you're advocating for Mittens on FreeRepublic.

You're here to tell the FReepers ..... the essential Romney message ....... "Sarah can't win .... Sarah is unelectable .... Sarah is a disaster .... Sarah is a mess .... Sarah is inexperienced .... you have to turn away from Sarah .... rally to Mittens! Hear his voice! Hear how reaaassonnabllle he is ..... Mittens can win, Sarah can't ..... Look, look, Mittens has Rick Perry on his ticket! Rally to Mittens .... To Mittens .... Mittens, our Savior!!"

Save your breath. We've all seen that Blair Witch movie already, in 2008 and 1996. Forget it.

Have the left even said “we can’t nominate so and so because Rush Limbaugh and Fox News will crucify them!”

This obsession with pleasing the leftist media is so asinine.

lol. Yeah. Mitt.

He’s only polling better than Paul,Cain and McCotter.

Has Less chance to actually win.

However, not sure anyone is really ready for Levi Johnson redux, or hearing about how she was For the bridge to nowhere, before she was against it.

The leftists will go all out this cycle to protect the Won.
She’s the one figure polarizing enough to allow them to d it.
Thats really my point.

Although the author has a fairly comprehensive critique of all the GOP candidates, they will be portrayed as dunces or big meanies by the moron stream media regardless. He made some interesting observations along the way.

Quite simply, even if she were qualified and politically sound (two very questionable presumptions) Bachmann could never beat Obama without some sort of massive disaster hitting the country or his campaign.

IIRC, he made the point of needing an extra disaster a few times. We have the great recession which is really the second Great Depression, caused by bad debt from the subprime loan disaster which started in the 1990s under Clinton's HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo, and Obama wants to make it worse with idiotic policies. Only a fool would want to get more taxes from medical devices. Making medical devices is one part of our manufacturing sector in which the USA excels. Obama's National Labor Relations Board is blocking Boeing from opening a new factory in South Carolina. Obama promotes expensive green jobs and prevents cheap energy from resources we already have. In short, while doing nothing to resolve the debt crisis that wasted too many resources in housing, construction, real estate and finance, we have an ideologue in the White House blocking anything that could help our economy and make jobs again.

As far as more disasters happening, I can see Holder et al. being impeached next year for the Gun Walker scandal, and who knows what will happen with his inept foreign policies.

Americans have usually mistrusted too much power being in the hands of one party, but in today's toxic environment this trend is on steroids. Even in 2008, Obama benefited greatly from a massive misperception among his voters that Republicans still controlled Congress. In fact, according to two national polls I commissioned after the election, had voters been required to know that it was the Democratic Party which ruled Congress, Obama would have actually lost. Huge portions of the country had little or no idea that they would be handing one party total control of the political process.

If that's true, then it's more evidence that boobs decide our elections.

I think we should go with the best conservative who can win, IMHO. Whoever is the GOP nominee, we have to make Obama the issue, especially with the Jacksonian Democrats, their historic base. Many were Reagan Democrats in the past. With the rats' energy and environmental policies, maybe this time the GOP can keep them.

This is an excellent comment and suggestion. The "yaller dog" Democrats have been one of the neglected pillars of Democratic politics, and in fact much of their politics ("bitter clingers", "typical white person", the Connecticut firemen screwed by the "wise Latina") has been transacted at their direct expense and in defiance of their demonstrated historical willingness to throw over faithless, Red-kissing national Democrats for solidly conservative Republicans (notice I don't include squishes and "it's Bob's turn, it's not your turn" RiNO's) like Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

I also like the idea of a House impeachment of the racist, Black Panther-coddling Holder and his campaign of vilification of Texas FFL's, which is what "Gun Walker" etc. was all about. Let the Senate Democrats cling to Holder, hold him up on high, sustain him in full view of the "yaller dogs" in the coming election cycle.

Bush 41 was excoriated by the left for his disembowelment of Gov. Dukakis's soft-on-crime, revolving-door prisons. They're going to hate what Republicans can do with "No Justice" Holder and his band of white-hating, Mexican-conspiring, Zeta-arming, Obama-loving Mau-Mau's.
