Why Sarah Palin Needs To Run For President In 2012
Riehl World View ^ | Saturday, August 13, 2011 | Riehl World View

While always open to the idea of one day supporting Sarah Palin for President, since 2008, I've gone back and forth on whether or not I thought it was smart for her to run next year. Re-visiting my thoughts yesterday, what with Palin's appearance in Iowa, not only am I convinced she should run, she needs to run and, regardless of one's preferred candidate, all Conservatives should encourage her to run and welcome her into the race, assuming she does.

Put aside the purely Republican primary politics of it for a moment. Also, I'm not endorsing her, or anyone at this point. But what happened in Iowa yesterday was electric, not just for any Palin faithful, but for many Conservatives and especially the media. For better, or worse, Sarah Palin has star power - whatever that is. But she does have it; that's for sure.

TRENDING: Palin swarmed at Iowa State Fair

Palin has two critical qualities, unique in that they combine in her. Beholden to no one, without fear, or restraint,  Palin articulates today's conservatism in a prudent, positive and cogent manner. More than that, the media, while much of it both loves and hates her, conveys her message to an audience far more broadly than they do for any other contemporary politician. I suspect, no matter who ultimately secures the 2012 Republican nomination, that will always be the case.

We are at a pivotal time in our American history. The future of this great nation is at stake as two competing ideologies prepare to go head-to-head in electoral competition come November 2012. It is absolutely critical for a genuine conservative voice to be heard and heard as widely across America as is possible. Whether you support, or ultimately vote for Sarah Palin, or not, I would encourage my fellow conservatives to think in these terms.

With no intention of demeaning a potential Palin candidacy, nor suggesting that the only purpose she could serve is as a conservative spokesperson, of sorts, - I do believe she would be a viable candidate - that she can play such a critical roll at such a crucial time in American politics is a fact not to be ignored by any conservative.

If you believe in conservatism and that it can win national elections in America, as I do, Sarah Palin's abilities to both speak out fearlessly and plainly for conservatism, while generating increased media interest in, not just herself, but the other candidates and the primary as a whole, would be of significant benefit for all on the Right. As we prepare to campaign and politically fight for the future of America in November of 2012, as things stand today, because of that, we should all encourage her to run and welcome her into the race if she does ... for that reason alone, if no other right now.

IF she runs she might have my support. I doubt the maturity and the intellectual capacity of anyone that latches on to one (non)candidate this early in the process and claims that no other will do.

I for one like 3 candidates and two possible future candidates. several could drop out or be forced out and I would still have someone to vote for.

Excluding as inadequate someone just because they are not named Sarah is childish in my view, but just to let the reader know, she is one of the two non-candidates on my list. I am seriously looking at (in no particular order);

Bachmann

Cain

Santorum

Palin and Perry

Not really interested in any of the rest, but I’d be satisfied with just about any of the names on that list over Mitt Romney, John Huntsman, Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul. Paul was actually on my list until he basically said in the debate that Iran could have nukes. To me it’s the same as saying “Hey that Hitler feller ain’t so bad.”

God bless America, God bless and protect Sarah Palin, turn or hearts back to thee, forgive us our transgressions, thank thee for the multitude of blessings showered on America daily, and we pray thee, restore America to our former foundations, and values, turn our hearts to thee, we hope in thee and love thee LORD, in Jesus name and for his sake, amen

Amen.

If Sarah Palin doesn't run we'll have to accept yet another compromise Republican candidate e,g. Romney, and we all know how that turns out. Bigger government at a slightly slower pace. Not this time. Not again. I pray that Sarah Palin chooses to run because she is the leader America needs, today, and she will defeat Obama. It will truly be a new day in Washington when Sarah comes to town to take her seat behind the desk in the Oval Office. I can't wait.

Yeah, me too. The irony of it all is that Paul was actually just being honest, from the USA's point of view anyway. Because the USA will do nothing to stop Iran from having nukes, and everybody knows it. And by doing nothing, that's pretty much like saying it's OK.

But saying it so openly was a mistake. It's always good to keep your enemy guessing as much as possible.

I don't write long ones very often, so please forgive a copy/paste from a thread last night in 'Chat':

Great pic GG !   :-)

If we, patriots of all stripes, can't do better than Perry or Romney, we may as well not bother.
While either would be preferable to the current usurper, neither of them exude the 'spark' to truly ignite the conservative cause for the next fifty years.

Sarah Palin is the next Reagan, imho.

Having been around her on two different occasions, it's SO evident that she's the real deal,
both personally and ideologically, and that it comes to her without even trying !

This is her campaign, along with Todd and her staff.
They're collectively telling the media to go F themselves and their ambush/deranged agenda/s.
She's doing this on HER terms, and I admire that tremendously.

What she has, this undefinable IT, is a blessing of some kind to her, her family, and to us.
And what seals the deal about that fact is the humility and grace with which she carries that awareness.

I don't believe that that kind of integrity can SEE the connection and hope it sparks yet cynically string it/us along for mere temporary benefit of whatever sort.

And aside from all that, imagine the gaping horns of the dilemna of every female in the nation being faced with the choice of endorsing another term for a proven fraudulent failure OR electing the first Woman President of the United States !

The choice is clear .. youbetcha

Ron Paul is a libertarian, a mere smidge above anarchist. I could possibly stand Paul as president, thought after watching the debate, I doubt it. The problem with Libertarians is that they want anarchy to satisfy their warped sense of “freedom.” (”If it feels good, do it.”)

While I have never been libertarian, I formerly didn’t mind them as much as many on FR. Their recital lines sound great, but when asked in depth, they crumble, and we saw it first hand in the last debate.

I like Cain, have mixed feelings about Santorum, and haven’t seen (or learned) enough of Bachmann, but probably would prefer she remain in the House if she’s doing as much as she says she is. She certainly took a lot of criticism (in a first class manner) from Pawlenty who looked like a total horse’s rear end to me. She seems like a stand up lady, and I like that, so we’ll see about her I guess.

As Mrs. Palin has not yet stated that she’s running, I find it hard to endorse her to a position she is not officially looking for and I don’t like counting my chickens before they hatch. I was unimpressed with Huntsman, but did not aprove of him as governor (I voted against him), and was not impressed with Romney’s doublespeak (and never been). Newt Gingrich hasn’t a snowball’s chance, so I think that’s everyone who’s running for now.

So far I’m with you, Cain, possibly Bachman, maybe Santorum. I wish we could have someone who is a combination of the best partsnof West’s attitude and dedication, Cain’s business knowledge, Bachmann’s morals, Palin’s Leadership and Paul’s monetary system (NOT all of his financial policies, disclaimer). But alas, there are no perfect candidates running.

I have faith Sarah Palin is running. She is showing every indication. I am beginning to wonder whether she is having difficulty breaking free from Fox News, but I’m certain she can and will, if that’s any problem.

Look for Labor Day and keep praying!

I have to agree. Iran will probably have nukes before the next President can do anything about it. My problem with Paul is that he is so isolationist. Yes, Libya is a mistake, but Iran declared WAR on us decades ago. Why we haven’t and still don’t knock them over like Iraq escapes me. Failing to confront bullies only encourages them.

I had high hopes for Huntsman.

Spending as much on the ground time as he has in the Peoples Republic of China, he was potentially in a unique position to understand (and drive American responses to) the blatantly uneven trade situation which is threatening America’s future.

But it seems he instead, bought into the bullcarp China-hugging idea that it’s all just a matter of understanding and “openness”.

It’s not a misunderstanding. China understands completely, and intends to bury us. We lack the political will to stand up for American interests. It’s that simple.

China certainly is advancing China’s interests.

Ironically, so are many Americans.

NOBODY is looking out for the United States.
