Like this post because (i) I like the implied call to optimism and (ii) your use of Hobbit. After the McCain thing I decided I would call myself a Hobbit proudly. (Obviously McCain never read the books or he would know it is an honor to be a Hobbit).
It comes down to winnebego county. can Hopper hold on?
I’ve never been a fan of Wisconsin but tonight I stand shoulder to shoulder with its citizens!
This will set the tone for 2012!
HOLD THE LINE!
(Reason: Far too many military field exercises with skunks, snakes and mosquitoes)
I did not read that story, but it might be worth reading now...
The Newspaper's webpage is:
This is the best answer to Rush Limbaugh the left has...pretty lame isn’t it?
‘2012 results.....If its a Reagan landslide style killing, itll all be over quickly.’
oh, I pray this will be the case. The thought of another 4 yrs of Mr. Obama is frightening.
Are you listening right now..they cut the arts program ..that is why the GOP needs to go...........per this 1 teacher.
From your lips!
Still no call in the 14th:
State Senate - District 14 - General
August 09, 2011 - 09:56PM CT
Wisconsin - 121 of 126 Precincts Reporting - 96%
Name Party Votes Vote %
Olsen , Luther (i) GOP 24,321 54%
Clark , Fred Dem 20,690 46%
Not my area of knowledge to be honest I’m further south.
GOP seems confident he’ll hold.
wisconsinreport Wisconsin Reporter by SykesCharlie SD 18 finds incumbent Hopper up 51% to 49% with 79 percent of the vote in. Dems really need that race. A GOP win is a recall push back.
Seems quite possible and would be a clear victory for us.
Finally called for Olsen.
Doesn’t look good for Hopper. If the current Winnebago percentages hold out, it spells an 1,800 vote gain for King.
If we get 5 of 6 the 3 Dem recall races next week suddenly get even more interesting...
We take 2 and we have a quorum :)
Hopper ahead with 18 precincts left by 534 votes. Nailbiter there.
Olson was called about 8 minutes ago/Defeat obama FB page ...
Anybody seen anything new from Scott Walker facebook page?
Agreed. If the percentages hold, then Hopper will lose by 274 votes.
Back to even in the 18th:
State Senate - District 18 - General
August 09, 2011 - 10:02PM CT
Wisconsin - 94 of 108 Precincts Reporting - 87%
Name Party Votes Vote %
King , Jessica Dem 24,458 50%
Hopper , Randy (i) GOP 24,321 50%
9:54 PM: 18th tightens, city of Oshkosh precincts only ones left
The 18th SD has tightened to just 27 votes with all of the remaining votes still out from the city of Oshkosh.
According to unofficial results from the Fond du Lac and Winnebago County clerks’ offices, GOP Sen. Randy Hopper leads 23,666 to 23,639 for Dem Jessica King.
The Winnebago County Clerk’s Office says the remaining precincts still out are all in the city of Oshkosh.

I still am amazed at how Wisconsin ha changed in my life time. These results would have been unthinkable only a few years ago.
that doesn’t sound right. clift hanger if percentages hold.
Winnebago seemed to be tightening there. Where are those remaining 18 precincts?
There are only 2 Dem recall races next week from what I know. One of them isn't even competitive, so we really only have one shot at a pickup.
We need to hold 4 seats tonight to keep the state senate. Basically, as best I know, if Darling holds on and wins like people are saying on this thread we keep the senate.
I like the sound of that.
What are they saying on the other 3?
it all comes down to Winnebago, PERIOD
Good news is that with 5 of the remaining 23 precincts coming in, his margin only went down by 46 votes. Keep that up and he wins. Of course it's not clear how those other precincts have gone in the past.
Does Oshkosh trend dim or Pubbie?
So, is Oshkosh a lib stronghold?
How soon before a Democrat judge steps in to rain on this parade?
I believe it is a big Ron Johnson area.
No changes, they update about every 6 or 7 minutes ... we shall see!
Crap, King just took the lead (jsonline website, 14 precincts to go):
King , Jessica
Hopper , Randy (i)
These nail biters in the blue states almost always go RAT because they hold a few precincts back to see how many votes they are going to need.
jsonline shows Hopper down around 120 with 14 precints left to report.
Dah! I forgot there was one recall a few weeks ago.
Looks like Hopper will be the 2nd GOP loss. Control of the Senate depends on Darling to come from behind.
dems always hold back some to see how many they need to win.
I’m in Alaska and so who’s Ron Johnson?
All I know about Oshkosh is it has a big air show every year.
The story has been up since about 1pm or 2pm CDT today...
32d called for Shilling:
State Senate - District 32 - General
August 09, 2011 - 10:05PM CT
Wisconsin - 98 of 119 Precincts Reporting - 82%
Name Party Votes Vote %
Shilling , Jennifer Dem 19,928 55%
Kapanke , Dan (i) GOP 16,537 45%
College town. Enuff said.
SykesCharlie Charles Sykes Here they come... @Schneider_CM: Germantown numbers in... big smiles in the Darling war room....
yep I am on it
DU is reporting that there are already 2 Dem pickups. Not that I trust the source but if the 3rd comes down to Hopper, then it will be a rough night for us.
