The Department of Justice on Wednesday announced the arrests of more than 50 people as part of an investigation into an international online child-exploitation ring, the largest prosecution of its kind to date.
Courts unsealed three indictments and one criminal complaint, charging a total of 72 people for their suspected involvement in "Dreamboard," a private, members-only online bulletin board that was created to promote pedophilia and encourage sex abuse of children.
Several of those arrested in the operation, which began in December 2009, have already pleaded guilty. That includes 32-year-old Michael Biggs of Orlando, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Federal officials said members of Dreamboard traded pictures and videos of adults molesting children, and collectively created a massive private library of the images.
The group made efforts to avoid law-enforcement detection by taking several measures, officials said. Bulletin board administrators required prospective members to upload child pornography portraying children 12 years or younger when applying for membership.
Once they were granted access, members had to continually upload child porn. Also, links posted on Dreamboard were encrypted with a password that was shared only with members.
Dreamboard members were divided into groups based on their ranking and status — members advanced to higher levels by providing images that they produced, providing a large quantity of images, or by submitting images that had never been seen before.
The board included rules of conduct available in English, Russian, Japanese and Spanish.
The charges and arrests were conducted in three phases. All 72 are charged with conspiring to advertise and distribute child pornography. Thirteen of the 52 arrested have pleaded guilty.
Fifteen of those who have been arrested created their own child pornography, officials said.

One of my associates who investigates these crimes told me that they could staff a room of fifty investigators, 24/7 for months and not catch them all. And that’s just in one state.
I'm with you - I think they are way beyond any type of human redemption (they will not and cannot change) and should be publicly shot or hung.
Better hurry before somebody sues for their *right* to rape children.
