After four jewelry store holdups in the past month, a Toledo police department spokesperson is reminding citizens that while they have a right to defend themselves, they really shouldn't bother.
"You may just end up in a big gun battle and the store owner may get the suspect they may get the store owner and no telling what bystanders might be involved so its just really not worth it." (emphasis added)

I want to see the video of the spokesperson and the Mayor, while they stand by and see their family home gutted, family raped, tortured and killed and every thing they own stolen... and they do nothing as it is sorta not worth doing anything, right???
Great to stand behind “protection” and sprout crap.....
Some animals are more equal than others.
Wonder how their explaining this to their families, no kids, no wife, no mother and father, I shall not do anything to help or save you... it is not worth it.

When I lived in Toledo a police spokesman once expressed surprise at the revelation that a port city of 300,000 had a fair amount of prostitution going on.
The guy’s name (and I am NOT making this up....) was Sergeant Schultz!
I see *nothing*! I hear *nothing*!
LOL
Holy Toledo !
Not worth it to whom? To you? You’re not me. If I get killed or my daughter gets raped, it’s not the end of the world to you. It’s just another police call. To me, it’s the end of the world. That’s because you’re not me. What’s “not worth it” to you is very much “worth it” to me.
What a rocket scientist.
However many they shoot, and wherever those stray rounds may go, only the police are immune from prosecution for murder.
"For there is no situation which cannot be made much worse by the arrival of the police"
Your pizza will arrive faster than any cop. And be sure to hide the dog.
Translation: "We the police are the only ones with firearms because we are the professionals.
What is the saying: when seconds counts, police are minutes away
Go ahead and let them murder you, it makes our paperwork much easier.
It’s a union thing...they’d rather write up your murder than have you stop the bad guys.
It’s bad for cop business when you make the price for crime too high.
Cities like Toledo and Cleveland are crime-infested and the police and other law enforcement agencies are short handed. Thus, leaving people only to defend themselves, their family and others around them. Because they know this simple equation: police layoff = higher crime rate.
As President Lincoln once said to a visitor during a White House tour: You may fool everyone some of the time or some people all the time, but you cannot fool everyone all the time.
Michigan and Ohio fought a brief war over Toledo. Michigan won and got the UP while Ohio was forced to keep Toledo.
Yes, the Toledo War. It almost became the first American-on-American shooting war, thirty years before the Civil War.
Both Michigan and Ohio coveted Maumee Bay, which was a good natural harbor. Michigan was still a Territory and the Territorial Governor decided to send his militia and occupy Toledo. The thinking was that would solidify his claim when they became a State a few years later.
The Governor of Ohio responded by ordering his militia to retake the town. Fortunately they got bogged down in a massive swamp around Bowling Green. Otherwise an actual battle would have occurred.
Congress then intervened. Andrew Jackson fired the territorial governor of Michigan, and Toledo was given to Ohio. Michigan became a state 2 yrs later and received the Upper Peninsula in return. I’d say they got the better part of that deal.
He puts a lot of faith in the intentions of bad guys as well as in his own ability to divine them.
“You may just end up in a big gun battle and the store owner may get the suspect they may get the store owner and no telling what bystanders might be involved so its just really not worth it.”
So maybe we should avoid that altogether by just disarming the Police?
