Is pornography driving men crazy?
CNN ^ | 6/30/11 | Naomi Wolf

It is hard to ignore how many highly visible men in recent years (indeed, months) have behaved in sexually self-destructive ways. Some powerful men have long been sexually voracious; unlike today, though, they were far more discreet and generally used much better judgment in order to cover their tracks.

Of course, the heightened technological ability nowadays to expose private behavior is part of the reason for this change. But that is precisely the point: so many of the men caught up in sex-tinged scandals of late have exposed themselves – sometimes literally – through their own willing embrace of text messages, Twitter, and other indiscreet media.

What is driving this weirdly disinhibited decision-making? Could the widespread availability and consumption of pornography in recent years actually be rewiring the male brain, affecting men’s judgment about sex and causing them to have more difficulty controlling their impulses?

There is an increasing body of scientific evidence to support this idea. Six years ago, I wrote an essay called “The Porn Myth,” which pointed out that therapists and sexual counselors were anecdotally connecting the rise in pornography consumption among young men with an increase in impotence and premature ejaculation among the same population. These were healthy young men who had no organic or psychological pathology that would disrupt normal sexual function.

I can’t believe that married women are losing out to porn. How can a cold plastic case compare to the loving caress of a affectionate wife?

Porn has certainly influenced the beauty aesthetic for both young men and women. I look at the wedding pictures of my grandmothers and great-grandmothers, and realize they would never get asked on a date if compared to today’s Hollywood/Playboy ideal.

And with the internet, I’m sure it’s no holds barred on what you can find.

“they are committing fornication in their hearts, but not adultery, since that is not what adultery means.

Thoughts? I’ve just long wondered about that one.”

They way the anti porn people explain this is your may not be married now, but you (probably) will be one day and so you are committing adultery against your future wife when you lust.

...too many criminals and such are emboldened and sustained by porn.

Yet, crime has plunged since the internet got up and running in the mid-90's.¹ The murder rate in 2009 was among the lowest recorded stretching back to 1960.

It is homo-eroticism mainstreamed—just conditioning....get used to the disgusting and it becomes normal.....Homosexual “porn” has always been sick debasement of the body, because it can’t be anything but that, since it is such a disgusting use of the human body. Such nihilism and idolatry.

....The homosexualization started with the sodomite Kinsey and continued with Deep Throat to make a common homosexual act “normal”. Hefner in the 50’s was used to objectify women and sexualize and titilate boys, and debase heterosexual commitments and marriage and create promiscuity as normal, which makes homosexuality not seem so “bad”. It was to kill the Christian paradigm that was prevalent in the 50’s. Designed by the cultural Marxists to destroy America from within. Bread and circuses....and chaos. Their favorite sodomites—the Beats were given prizes and elevated to the University canon to kick out the Classics which taught Values—virtue and honor, courage and loyalty and sacrifice.

That’s a good point about Kinsey and Deep Throat. When I was in high school, certain sex acts were associated strictly with nasty girls, prostitutes or homosexual men. Now, young women believe they must perform those acts to keep a boyfriend/husband.

One other thing that isn’t pointed out in any of these discussions - hormonal birth control has absolutely destroyed the typical male/female balance of attraction. In the old days, women (and girls) used to be attracted to masculinity. The features of men associated with testosterone are now less desirable and women want feminized men. This isn’t the fault of Hollywood (well, it might be) but rather the fault of hormonal birth control. It has literally rewired their brains.

Good point. And on top of that is the massive use of antidepressants by women, which deliberately suppresses their emotional reactions, cuts them off from true feelings, and when reduced or incorrect dosage, creates severe anxiety and rage.

This dopamine effect explains why pornography tends to become more and more extreme over time: ordinary sexual images eventually lose their power, leading consumers to need images that break other taboos in other kinds of ways, in order to feel as good. Moreover, some men (and women) have a “dopamine hole” – their brains’ reward systems are less efficient – making them more likely to become addicted to more extreme porn more easily.

I've noticed there are people that have the same reaction to roller coasters.

The problem with porn is that it is at it’s roots, gay.

It is the heterosexual equivalent of the gay lifestyle. Totally non-committal sex with strangers is the lifestyle being pushed. Total self-centeredness, narcissistic, and certainly nothing to do with kids wanting to be created.

Porn pushes the gay lifestyle onto heterosexuals. No committment, no strings, no long term anything, no consequences, no kids. No shame.

Fornication is also listed as a sexual sin, that covers your unmarried people.

Come on do you really think lusting after someone is okay for people woh aren’t married?

She’s also a lesbian, so writing about male sexual urges, she’s twice removed from where a normal woman would be.

David as King also had multiple wives. The cons outweighed the pros. A little extra fun for a lifetime of extra problems.
