No, raising the income tax rate does not significantly increase taxes on the truly wealthy. Wealth is in assets—not income. They can shelter income. Raising the tax rates penalizes high earning professional and small business people. THEY ARE NOT RICH. Obama will not screw the power broker class of Buffett, Jamie Diamon, Bill Gates, Jeff Imelt, and all of the pother fat cat RATS.
I may be a rare Conservative in that I wouldn’t mind seeing taxes raised a bit if they would cut spending. However, they WON’T, so...I’m totally against raising taxes. They can’t be trusted with more money (assuming revenues would go up).
As far as cutting “corporate loopholes” I’m all in favor of. The overall rate should be cut, and ALL loopholes should be ended. Cut the rate to 17% or so, and ALL companies pay that.
Cut all the damn subsidies too....

They have a small business and know the work and sacrifice that goes into it only to be taxed (and regulations/fines/fees imposed) by those less ambitious. Our country was built on small businesses, the blue collar worker. Who doesn’t love America? Barry and ilk.

since the fedgov is in ALL transaction, then all the money goes through the fedgov. increasing taxes only increases the rate at which all the money comes in... not the amount.
to increase the amount of money that comes into the fedgov, more money has to come INTO the US.
address the trade deficit. flip it so more comes in then goes out... and then we’ll have a chance to actually change the situation

There are two types of Democrats, Democrat Leaders and their flock, the Democrat Masses. The leaders are evil and not dumb, for they know that every untaxed penny left in the hands of the "rich" doesn't just sit in bank vaults but is reinvested. These leaders know that the prosperity that this re-investment causes will find its way to their "flock" and they will loose their grip on them. Their followers have bought the class warfare spiel and if they are allowed to climb into prosperity they will stand up and walk away from their control.
The Democrat leaders are socialist pigs that want government to equalize society, so long as it doesn't equalize them. These leaders are pigs that walk on two feet and fill the troughs for their followers. Their followers also pigs, but they walk on all fours and all they know is how to eat from the trough. All the other animals (including us) are expected to pay for what goes into the trough, as is evidenced by a tax proposed on cats in San Diego recently!
