The 70-year-old owner of a Fairfield market whom neighbors would see reading the Bible in his store died after being attacked and pepper-sprayed during a robbery, police said.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was working at the Travis Dairy at 140 East Travis Blvd. when he was confronted by three men at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
The men attacked him and stole the cash register, a video recorder and other items before leaving in a brown or tan late-model Honda or similar vehicle, said police Lt. Greg Hurlbut. The robbers pepper-sprayed the owner, police said.
Investigators said the suspects were black men in their late teens.

The Amish acting up again.
My guess that once the black male perps in these Obama mobs actually start taking out the special people the libs actually like then all hell is gonna break loose in the Dem party.
No city for nice old men.
The use of pepper spray as an offensive weapon seems to be getting more common.
Other than a gun, is there any recognized effective defense against a pepper spray attack?
Anybody know?
One of the many reasons I’m glad that God is just and justice will happen.
A wall of plexiglass.
Not very helpful advice for folks walking home, etc.
I'm just wondering if some smart self-defense guy hasn't come up with a counter to (or some advice about) a pepper spray attack.
IMHO it's worth considering because this is not the first time I've read about thugs attacking with pepper spray.
Folks, preparee yourself. The savages are reverting to their roots. Look where they come from and it will tell you all you need to know. When Obama is defeated there will be bloody riots. Mark my word. It will happen if not sooner.
‘They must have been crazy to attack an old man.’ No, EVIL.
We can’t all wear face shields all the time.
I believe the cops carry a form of neutralizer for when they get some “blowback” , but that’s impractical as well.
‘They must have been crazy to attack an old man.’ No, EVIL.
“.....defense against a pepper spray attack?”
A preemptive spray of lead.
I understand why you might think that, but you're wrong.
I’m beginning to detect a pattern in news stories.
The savages are more active as law enforcement continues as a big joke.
We lock our recorders in our stores' time-delay safes. If the robbers want to wait around for fifteen minutes to get at our recorders, then I guess they're welcome to try. No one has bothered, though, in the fifteen years since we first began doing that.
For future reference, wouldn’t this story had a much better ending, had it been, “Three robbers gunned down while trying to rob 70-year-old man”.
Old people need guns, too.
The attacker always has an advantage, regardless of his weapon of choice. He is a peaceful citizen right until the moment his knife enters your side. You can't, legally or morally, attack him until at least you see the aggressive move - and there is less than a second for you to act. Besides, this is CA, so you can't effectively defend yourself.
The only solution that I see (and use) is to always have some good distance between you and suspects. If the suspected attackers are close to you, you are done for even if you have five Glocks on you and have a license to kill. Perhaps a karate master can fight them off; but that requires years of training, and in general it is not that useful a skill unless you fight a lot and your opponents have no firearms.
This means that you must use your car wherever you go. Avoid stopping anywhere that is not your destination. Your car is not a perfect castle, but it has a couple of advantages over being on foot.
Nope. Fairfield used to be nice. Then they built a lot of cheap housing and attracted a bunch of punks and gangs from SF and Oakland. My brother-in-law lived there as a reservist, as it is close to Travis. Wasn't good for his family, now in Colorado and safer. While in Fairfield, they heard gunshots and police helicopters with regularity.
