Palin's Secret Weapon: New Film to Premiere in June (Campaign prelude?)
Real Clear Politics ^ | May 24, 2011 | Scott Conroy

Posted on 05/24/2011 6:44:15 PM PDT by Virginia Ridgerunner

Shortly after Republicans swept last November to a historic victory in which Sarah Palin was credited with playing a central role, the former Alaska governor pulled aside her close aide, Rebecca Mansour, to discuss a hush-hush assignment: Reach out to conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon with a request. Ask him if he would make a series of videos extolling Palin's governorship and laying to rest lingering questions about her controversial decision to resign from office with a year-and-a-half left in her first term. It was this abdication, Palin knew, that had made her damaged goods in the eyes of some Republicans who once were eager to get behind her potential 2012 presidential campaign.

The response was more positive than Palin could have hoped for. He'd make a feature-length movie, Bannon told Mansour, and he insisted upon taking complete control and financing it himself -- to the tune of $1 million.

The fruits of that initial conversation are now complete. The result is a two-hour-long, sweeping epic, a rough cut of which Bannon screened privately for Sarah and Todd Palin last Wednesday in Arizona, where Alaska's most famous couple has been rumored to have purchased a new home. When it premieres in Iowa next month, the film is poised to serve as a galvanizing prelude to Palin's prospective presidential campaign -- an unconventional reintroduction to the nation that she and her political team have spent months eagerly anticipating, even as Beltway Republicans have largely concluded that she won't run.

(snip)

"This film is a call to action for a campaign like 1976: Reagan vs. the establishment," Bannon told RealClearPolitics.

You can hust about bet that the early showings will be at events that have a sizeable per-plate tag.

I guess you didn't read the article - a typical PDS symptom. The target audience of the film is not just squishy Pubbies but the general voting population. Anyone that would go to a campaign fundraiser and shell out some cash is almost exclusively made up of voters those that are already on board.

This women wants a movie (a movie!) made about a ‘tough’ decision she had to make.

I think more accurately she wants a movie that tells her version of her political career to counter all the MSM's attempts to slime her over the past two and a-half years.

Sounds a lot like a campaign ramping up. If the article is accurate it would imply the Governor has been planning a run all along and has not been undecided as has been suggested so often. Should make things interesting.

This is excellent. This is what she NEEDED to do.

I am so glad she is thinking like I am — that to counteract the phony negatives about her, she is bringing the truth to the American people. I only fear that the independent voters will never see it.

I dunno. After a whole reality show, I think I could have bought the mini-series. But a movie/silver screen?

“This is so not an issue.”

So there isn’t a movie coming out about it, after all?

“Wow. Sounds like she’s running!”

Yeah, there’s no other reason to release a film like this. So hopefully the GOP field is about to get a lot less boring!

Two hours??!! Good grief, not only Joe Biden will be put to sleep. Thirty minutes at the most should be enough. Color me aghast.

She’s going to be a candidate. Candidates, by design, PROMOTE THEMSELVES.

Are you going to be this distraught when T-Paw, Mitt and Cain start running campaign ads? Or when they give stump speeches promoting themselves and their ideas?

And she’ll most likely run commercials.. COMMERCIALS! ... that actually say why she’s the right person for the job!!!

What nerve!

False. She was looking for something smaller originally to help explain her record of accomplishments and yes, in part, get across why she resigned.

The filmmaker chose to make this something bigger and funded it.

You think a political candidate...any candidate...would spurn a feature film commercial for them, ie, free advertising and free positive press, I’ve got the Brooklyn Bridge to sell you.

Cheap.

He/she is a concern troll. Classically trained.

She’s all a-flutter because Palin’s choosing an unconventional means to counter the lies the Lamers have been spewing for years.

She WANTS to support her...but doggoneit...she just CAN’T.

You know.

She is doing what she needs to do to overcome the constant barrage of smears from the media and the RINO establishment. If she didn’t she would not have a chance. And as for leadership, she was the most popular governor in recent memory for a reason. Was she being self-absorbed when she when to Haiti and Alabama with Samaritans Purse to help without a lot of media fanfair? I’m sorry but I believe she really, truly wants to serve to help her country.
