In my Baptist Sunday School class around 1949 or 1950, we were taught to “stand” for Israel, not only stand for Israel but to donate our pennies and nickles to a fund to plant trees in the “new” nation of Israel and to pray for the new nation of Israel. That theme has been reinforced repeatedly over the last 60 years.

I’ve wondered over the years if any of those trees my small donations helped to plant are still standing and perhaps still bearing fruit.

Trees do live a very long time generally.

You bet they are. Also, the planting of trees according to Israeli Law is a sign of ownership..
