Paging Henry Bowman...
Booby trapping a home with an underwater mortgage and a divorce pending sure may become a convenient way of getting back above water (legally!)
The 4th doesn’t apply if no one forces it. This has to go to the USSC but I am not comfortable about what those fellows may say. They have pretty much disallowed private property rights wherever a government unit wants a piece of land for something other than its current use.
The current crop of judges are graduates of the law schools. The law schools have long required courses in “Critical Legal Studies”which is the use of the law and the courts to overturn the Laws and rights of people. There is no one to replace them. Everyone has taken Crit. Most have absorbed the attitudes and viewpoint inculcated in Crit. Most will dissemble about it when they are under consideration for the bench. That is part of Crit, too. Truth is the Party Line.
Meantime his murderers are celebrating, being hailed as heroes by the slaves, and doing everything in their power to murder his character.
The dreamers here think we can change all this with a couple of election victories...
However, the reality is that the cancer is too far advanced...Only heroic surgery can offer real hope for patient recovery...
I am sadly inclined to agree.
Didn’t the ussc just rule on this same subject in a Kentucky case?
I’m sure I read where they did.
And guess what? We lose again!
It could have been anywhere. History shows very clearly that if you put 10 people in uniform, 7 of them will become instant Nazis, and the other 3 will follow along meekly. It's not street criminals, bad as they are, that have caused atrocities and genocide throughout history, but ordinary people, as we thought of them. Our friends and neighbors, until they get a taste of power, the way a shark behaves when it gets a taste of blood.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. A man in blue is infinitely more dangerous than a crack junkie looking for a fix, because he has the force of law behind him.
The Founders, and those who came before them, warned us over and over about this.
When two of our community's boys came home from Vietnam in coffins, the Boy Scouts participated in the honor guard in the march to the cemetary. This Sheriff just spat on their graves.
A perfect example of every negative attribute ascribed to cops.
They’re welcome to try randomly searching my house.
I note that the Newton County Sheriff is an elected position and that the fellow is a Republican. Surely the Indiana GOP can be prevailed upon to bring him to heel. /s
When’s the next election?
This attitude has existed in parts of LE for many years. Many have become very militant, as exhibited by the number of swat teams now in existance. Every warrant (or very nearly so) is effectively a “no knock” warrant. Ex brother in law ex cop bragged about this fact back in the 70’s.
Newton County Sheriff, Don Hartman Sr. is foaming at the mouth (from my understanding, there a quite a number of huge munition caches in some surrounding counties) to do some underwear drawer snooping.
Mr. Hartman has a choice of resisting such carnal urges and redirecting his OATH to his sworn DUTY and UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION.
To revoke that oath, his police powers are null and void crossing the threshold illegal entry into a freeman/woman’s domicile. Mr. Hartman is then a criminal trespasser.
Incidentally, in U.S. vs. John Bad Elk, the U.S. Supreme Court made it clear that resisting an unlawful arrest, even if doing so requires killing the cop, can be legal.
And we Indiana citizens have the Castle doctrine.
Wondering where Mitch Daniels is upon the recent unconstitutional decision to throw out Hoosier 4th Amendment rights by these 3 clowns on Indiana Supreme Court?

Also wondering if there are greater things at play here. Zero was just in Indy 2 wks ago. Pretty stupid for a state to be a testing ground to run statist operations who’s citizens are armed to the teeth. Not to mention on the other spectrum the Klan, Aryans, motorcycle gangs. We have open or concealed carry, folder, fixed blade knife carry no minimum blade length (no automatic knives), castle doctrine, 2nd Amendment trumps company policies— arms in locked vehicles on employers property, no seizure or suspended carry of weapons by authorities like what happened during Katrina.

Guess where that quote came from and win a prize.
Atlas Shrugged. A distraught Cheryl Taggart, after running away from Jim, thought about going into a womens' shelter. She veered off from it because she thought she'd hear something of the sort from the staff.
(Do I get extra credit?)
Cops are like an enema— unpleasant, uncomfortable but necessary.
“his sheriff is going to get some people killed before the U.S. Supreme Court tells them that the Constitution and Bill of Rights disallows what the state supreme court says was okay.”
I have serious doubts about our Supreme Court.
Some think the threat may be deliberate for just such a purpose: push it too far so it will head back toward sensible ASAP.
“This is how revolutions start.”
Does this mean we’ll get a visit from NATO troops?
