The Job Nobody Wants: GOP's Growing 2012 Dropout List (The Palin handwriting is on the wall)
Yahoo! News ^ | May 17, 2011 | Eleanor Rodham Clift

Posted on 05/17/2011 12:01:36 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Donald Trump is the latest Republican to bail out of the 2012 presidential race, joining Mike Huckabee and Haley Barbour. Doesn’t anybody want the GOP nomination? Eleanor Clift on why the contest can’t draw a crowd.

Running for president is not for the faint-hearted. The level of personal scrutiny is intense, the financial demands daunting, and the chance of winning iffy against a well-funded incumbent.

they will quickly observe that Sarah Palin is the the "Sarah Palin" that they have been led to believe

Should read: they will quickly observe that Sarah Palin is not the "Sarah Palin" that they have been led to believe

I really miss the lack of an "edit" feature here...

The ONLY answer Conservative hopefuls have to give is, “when O’$hithead comes clean with his college records, SSN, passport info, etc., etc., then I will provide what you want.”

Mr. Herman Cain, I’m sure is a great guy. However, we’ve NEVER elected someone to the presidency who hasn’t held a federal elected or flag officer position. EVER. In 235 years. Do you see that changing this year against an incumbent with 98.6% of the media on his side? With academia, the nutroots, Hollywood, cable TV, liberal talk radio, Broadway, the beltway and leftist churches in his pocket? With ACORN, SEIU, AFSCME, UFW, UAW, AFGE, Teamsters, AFL-CIO, NEA and most other unions working for him? With NGOs, 501s, Greens, communists, socialists, anarchists, Black Panthers, Nation of Islam, LaRaza, LULAC and other such groups behind him? 2012 will be a war.

I suggest an experiment for you...

Go in to a bar, or a local non-political meeting of some kind, and ask someone you know pays little attention to politics THIS QUESTION:

“Who was it that said “I can see Russia from my House!””

99 of 100 responses will be SARAH PALIN, not Tina Fey.

I’m old enough to remember what happened to Gerald Ford, and that kind of minimalization WORKS. And it has worked on Sarah Palin. They’ve turned her in to a caricature, for most of the population.

Aren’t we still waiting for John Kerry’s military records?

For the last few months, apparently. He still has yet to release the verified, original long-form voter registration card, so it’s up in the air.

“they have a foolproof weapon to use against us in perpetuity.”

Unless you have been living on another planet for the last 2 1/2 years, it’s a weapon that WORKS, and is even more effective in today’s instant media culture. Most people no longer read stories, they only read HEADLINES.

“To anyone paying attention”

If that were true, Sarah would already be Vice-President, wouldn’t she....

I’m old enough to remember what happened to Gerald Ford, and that kind of minimalization WORKS.

So your position is that Palin is unelectable because people don't know the difference between a Sarah Palin quote and a Tina Fey quote?

And because they were able to paint the buffoon Gerald Ford as a buffoon?

You know, there is this new-fangled thing called the "interwebs" that Ubama used to get elected.

I sure wish Sarah Palin had thought of harnessing it. </sarcasm>

Newt committed hara-kiri Sunday morning. First agreeing with ObamaCare’s must-buy mandate, then savaging Paul Ryan’s budget as “radical”, (among other disparaging comments towards this brilliant plan.)

An Iowa GOP voter told him to his face yesterday “What you did to Congressman Ryan is unforgivable. You’re an embarrassment to our party. Why don’t you get out of the race before you make an even bigger fool of yourself?”

As Jackie Gleason would say...Bang! Zoom!!!

Those are the qualifications for conservatives. Here are the ones for liberals/socialists:

SEEKING PROFESSIONAL WITH NO EXECUTIVE SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE

Questionable past is acceptable - that can all be hidden.
Must be willing to say different things to different people, depending on the audience.
Must be able to speak passionately and generate enthusiasm without saying anything.
Must be able to read from a teleprompter.
Must hate America, but be able to disguise that hatred.
A fetish for golf (or other sports) is a plus, especially in times of national crisis.
Benefits: Free room and board; free lifetime retirement package; free use of jumbo jet for self, family and friends; free personal security detail for life; free pass by the main stream media for life.

The politics of personal destruction by the lamestream media has worked very well.

And you're willing to give up and let them win?

Yeah, that’s pretty much it...

In case you haven’t noticed, a completely unqualified, unvetted incompetent who dealt drugs in college is now President.

“runner up getting the spot” - could be Romney, could be Ron Paul, could be Giuliani.

“ex VP nominee or VP”

60 Nixon
68 Nixon
72 Nixon
76 Ford
88 Bush
92 Bush
96 Dole

That would be Palin, or Cheney, or Quayle.

Why the hades is everyone so anxious for Sarah Palin to jump in right now? Ronald Reagan didn’t announce until mid November and won that election. Sarah is smart enough to know that Americans tire easily of candidates. She is also smart enough to continue to keep her position at Fox and to get as much moola as she can before she announces.

Her grassroots are out here...busy...setting up....starting to put her money together....we believe in her...we are readying for the day when her announcement is made. We believe she will run because she sees the people already signing in and she KNOWS they don’t have America as their best interest.

The day will come...when she is ready...when the field posted now loses their immediate glow and glamour....when the play is right for the game. So, stop whining and wringing your hands....she is quiet for good reason. to quote: “silence is strength”.....”silence is golden”....a hunter waits on its prey for just the right moment to take it down...an animal predator will lie in wait for quite some time until the next meal is ready to be taken....a coach knows the right tactics to bring in at the right time. She knows what she is doing.

They attacked Reagan, too. He was an amiable dunce who was going to blow up the world. How’d that work out?

The thing is, I’ll vote for the republican no matter what. A lot of people will never vote for (insert “RINOs” name here). Gov. Palin is one of the 2 or three candidates that the base is juiced up about, the others being Bachman and Cain. Bachman has been attacked nearly as much as Palin, but Palin, as a former governor, has a history of accomplishments that is easier for her followers to point to than that of an average congressperson.

January primaries really mean she can wait no later than about Mid-August, now, if she chooses to run.

It's hers. She knows it. We know it.

There is no need to declare early, other than to give the ruling-class RINOs a sporting chance to destroy her.

Screw that.
