(CNN) -- Was Barack Obama really born in America? A new CNN investigation reveals what most analysts have been saying since the so-called "birther" controversy erupted during the 2008 presidential campaign: Obama was born in the state of Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Period.

While the president has made light of the controversy, the question remains political red meat for some of his critics. A recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll showed that nearly 75% of Americans believe Obama was definitely or probably born in the United States. More than four in 10 Republicans, however, believe he probably or definitely was not born in America.
The U.S. Constitution says only "natural born" citizens can become president -- a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama because, they insist, he was born outside the United States. Skeptics contend, among other things, that Obama was born in his father's home country of Kenya. Potential GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump recently seized on the issue, saying he had doubts about Obama's background.
Dr. Chiyome Fukino, a former director of the Hawaii Department of Health and a Republican, told CNN in her most extensive comments to date that she has "no doubt" Obama was born in the state.

What is really stupid, is claims by some that newspaper announcements “confirm” he was born in hawaii. As a news reporter for decades, I know that (especially back then), anyone could call a paper to run a birth (or any other) announcement — and they did.
No kidding! The extent of their "investigation" was to interview someone who claimed the original was at the Dept of Health back some time ago (CYA). That and parrot the claim endlessly that a COLB is all they give anymore, when that's not true, and even if it was it only started just last week!
this is the key point of the show tonight. CNN admits the long form exists and that all Obama has to do is ask for it to be released and sign a form. During Tuchmann’s piece Cooper asked him “so, why won’t he just sign the FOIA request and end this issue?” and Tuchmann had no answer. Something about how it would take a few weeks and involve too many man hours. After the segment he asked Toobin in studio “why doesn’t he just release it and end this” and Toobin had no answer. He just said “well, even if he did they wouldn’t believe it anyway, they’d just say it was forged”.
But that’s the key point. Even MSM types are now openly asking “why don’t you just end all of this and release your birth certificate”
How soon before we get a transcript, as each point needs to be refuted in detail?
There is a Certificate of Live Birth and a Certification of Live Birth. A Certification is given to those that are vouched for. A Certificate is a smaller version of the long form birth certificate.
no, that ended tonight. they no longer are saying the COLB is all they give you. The CNN reporter clearly said they have the long form and anyone can get a copy sent to them.(I’m sure as President Obama could have the actual document sent to him). They’re not peddling the “they won’t give it to you” lie anymore.
Cooper to his credit then immediately asked why he won’t just release the actual long form and there was no good answer.

The birther phenomenon did not blossom in a vacuum. The lack of long form Birth Certificate was only the start of public skepticism. Many Americans were also concerned because Obama refused to provide even basic documents such as school records, student loan records, old passports [including the one he used to travel to Pakistan], full medical records, etc.
Excellent idea. Call it “keeping them honest” and spam Cooper and this other guy with it everywhere we can, like the 360 board.

They finally admitted it but still clamed it again later. Actually shouldn’t matter as Obama said he has an original copy in one of his books, making the whole discussion a sideshow.

Given their confidence, surely CNN will have no problem requesting Obama to bring a 10$ certified copy of his long form birth certificate then, right?

Summary of the CNN video aired tonight with Anderson Cooper:
1. Starts out showing the CertificATION of Live Birth and falsely stating that’s it’s a Certificate of Birth. (This is the most common MSM lie, btw.)
2. Then he states “This (the COLB) is the only document Hawaii believes to be official proof of birth in the state.” (Second lie. The long form can be obtained and someone posted one here on this site within the last week.)
3. Then he shows the stamp and says “It’s been examined by a number of NEW ORGANIZATIONS AND NON-PARTISAN GROUPS.” When? FactCheck is not non-partisan. The original COLB they show has not been examined by an independent forensic document examiner. It also isn’t the ‘best evidence’ Obama can present — that’d be the long form BC or Certificate of Live Birth.
4. Anyone can go to the Hawaiian office and look at the birth index. See Obama listed. (A FR member has been stonewalled getting the office to produce those copies. Not sure what they’d do if you flew there to look.)
5. Local paper. No newspaper exist that we’ve seen. We’ve seen scans only.

Hey, I just want all the facts known.
ROTFLOL None of them can quite tell you where the birth actually happened nor can they present real proof; only fake documents and lies. We have to wonder why they are lying like they are: No one especially like Obama is worth the risk of lying for.
