(CNN) -- Was Barack Obama really born in America? A new CNN investigation reveals what most analysts have been saying since the so-called "birther" controversy erupted during the 2008 presidential campaign: Obama was born in the state of Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Period.

While the president has made light of the controversy, the question remains political red meat for some of his critics. A recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll showed that nearly 75% of Americans believe Obama was definitely or probably born in the United States. More than four in 10 Republicans, however, believe he probably or definitely was not born in America.
The U.S. Constitution says only "natural born" citizens can become president -- a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama because, they insist, he was born outside the United States. Skeptics contend, among other things, that Obama was born in his father's home country of Kenya. Potential GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump recently seized on the issue, saying he had doubts about Obama's background.
Dr. Chiyome Fukino, a former director of the Hawaii Department of Health and a Republican, told CNN in her most extensive comments to date that she has "no doubt" Obama was born in the state.

I saw the BC\Trump piece on CNN tonight. I then sent this email to Anderson Cooper:
I heard part 1 of your Trump interview re: Obama’s BC. YOU FAIL TO MENTION ONE VERY IMPORTANT POINT and that is that at the time of Obama’s birth, Hawaiian Law allowed parents of children not born in the state to file for a certificate of live birth, thus giving them Hawaiian citizenship. It was allowed by law and was a common practice to populate the state at the time. It’s a fact. If you don’t tell your viewers this you are factually lying. And, if a child born outside the country (Japan, Kenya or any other country) who has a certificate of live birth as such, asks the Hawaii DOH for a copy, GUESS WHAT THEY GET? Exactly. They get exactly what Obama got. IT PROVES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING UNLESS WE SEE HIS VAULT COPY. Tell the truth, Anderson. Otherwise, you are a liar, plain and simple. I’m not crazy or a bigot and I resent that statement by your CNN attorney, Tobin. He’s lying to your viewers on your behalf as well if he doesn’t distinguish between the two circumstances. That's as far as I needed to read, as Trump's argument they were trying to shoot down is that it's missing NOW. They also had no answer for Trump's claim that no Hawaii hospital has anything on record either, and refused to even address it every time he brought it up.

CNN told us before that Hawaii destroyed all the real birth certificates and went to only computer abstracts. So they destroyed all the underlying documentation that the computer abstracts base their information on? We found out later they were lying their pants off again...that CNN executive John Klein was spewing nonsense.

BTW, Mr. Trump needs to make the distinction that I outlined in my email to Cooper (below). There is no denying this law and the facts. That would put reasonable doubt in anyone’s mind as it did in mine. Mr. Trump needs to make it part of his arguement. The Vault copy of the LFBC is all that is acceptable. Nothing else will do.

CNN has gone from looking the other way to actively trying to cover up the astounding lack of records on this guy.
I don’t care if he was born on the Fourth of July in the middle of a parade in Ohio, I want to know if he qualifies as a natural born citizen, and what visas and educational assistance he’s gotten and what citizenship he has claimed in his efforts to get these things.
I’m starting to think that the plan is for team Obama to beat the “Birthers are crazy racists” drum, finally provide doubtful “proof” that he was born in the USA and then loudly insist that the any talk of natural born status is vile racist sour grapes and not to be tolerated. The feeling I get is that Trump’s investigators are looking at everything else that attends a live birth, and are not coming up with anything.
What do I mean there? No hospital bills, no prescription drugs, no vaccinations, no circumcision records, etc., etc., etc...
It’s not just the birth certificate.
Women do not magically appear in a hospital delivery room. They have to get there somehow.
There would be records in the emergency room, in the maternity ward logbook, all sorts of places. I don’t think they are finding anything that would accompany a normal hospital birth for Obama because he was NOT born in those hospitals.
As to where he was born, who knows?
Please someone clarify for me: The Certification of Live Birth is now routinely given to those born in Hawaii who have a long form Birth Certificate in their “vault”. However, the Certification of Live Birth was also given to those who had an unattended birth [not in a hospital], with one witness vouching for the birth on Hawaiian soil. Is that correct, or is this inaccurate?
