For many, the American engagement in Libya is an enigma. Was the use of American aircraft a humanitarian mission to prevent a bloodbath, were these planes deployed to assist the so-called rebels, were they called on to send a message to Muammar Gaddafiperhaps even to oust him?

Here is the latest story I found at my AOL email site regarding the Libyan/Misrata situation. Qadaffi’s man is saying that a group of tribal leaders is trying to pursuade the rebels to stop fighting. There is a lot of interesting contradictory information in this article. My read is that the rebels have finally gotten rid of his mercenary snipers in city center, and perhaps air strikes/drones have driven Qs forces back a bit, and now Q is trying for a negotiated settlement as things are looking down for him. Meanwhile the dying continues.

Mostly disinfo. Meanwhile, tribal fighters (or military in civ clothing) are attacking the rebels, random but heavy shelling is continuing and water and supplies have been cut off.
Here is another interesting FR post. Apparently Kuwait is going to give $180 million dollars to the rebels for “employee salaries”. ;-) Glad our 1990 investment in Kuwait is paying off a little.

The news garnered from different sites seem to agree on current conditions in Misrata. I see nothing unreasonable with your analysis.
