A Jewish student at the University of California at Berkeley who was attacked by a Muslim student last year has filed suit against UC Berkeley for failing to provide a safe atmosphere. In her suit, 21-year-old Jessica Felber alleges that UC Berkeley did not effectively deal with harassment and intimidation by Muslim and pro-Arab student groups, leading to a dangerous and threatening environment.
Felber was attacked by Husam Zakharia, leader of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) group, during a rally. At the time, she was holding a sign that said Israel Wants Peace.
Zakharia rammed Felber with a shopping cart, causing her injury. Following the assault, she was granted a restraining order against Zakharia.
The assault could have been prevented if campus authorities had taken sufficient care to ensure students safety, according to the suit. Instead, UC Berkeley policies fostered and encouraged pro-terrorist incitement, turned a blind eye to the perpetrators of illegal activities, and failed to effectively discipline the MSA [Muslim Student Association] and SJP for their pro-terrorist programs, goals and conduct; despite having ample notice that such violence was foreseeable.
By failing to provide security to Jewish and pro-Israel students, UC Berkeley condoned and allowed the MSA, the SJP and MSU [Muslim Student Union] to threaten, harass and intimidate Jewish students and to endanger their health and safety.

It was a $hithole then as it has always been and continues to be to this day. That’s a shame because it has been since WW II along with Cal Tech MIT and others best graduate engineering school in country developing incredible advances in technology. Engineering corner of campus completely different. When I say that’s where I went to school always afraid people will think I was one of those radicals.
Good! It would also be nice to see these savages prosecuted in the criminal court system... but because this is California, I am not holding my breath.
What part of "UC Berkeley" did she not understand when she enrolled? (No, I'm not trying to blame the victim, just stating the obvious about Berkeley.)
it makes me sick to my stomach that I am mandated to pay taxes to support such twisted institutions as Bezerk-ley.
Campuses WANT more jihadis. They actively seek them out. They foster a climate of hate for America and for Jews. The college needs to pay for this.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

“Not going to happen, and it would be a very bad thing if it did happen. UC Berkeley is one of the finest engineering and science schools in the world. Silicon Valley would not exist if not for UC Berkeley (and Stanford, of course). “
There is an old saying among sysadmins: Two things of note have come out of Berkeley; LSD and UNIX. This is not a coincidence.
Peet (currently upgrading to FreeBSD 8.1)
Full disclosure ... I've known Jessica since she was in Pre-K. She & my daughter have been bff's for 16 yrs.
Of course, the Muslim defense will be that the victim "provoked" the attack by not wearing a hijab.
It’s become like this on most, if not all, large universities over the past few years. All the leftist sympathies, which dominate on campus, have turned to the Muslim students, leaving the Jewish students on the ‘outs’ and way outnumbered.
Don’t you just LOVE diversity?
My increasingly conservative little sister (she is growing up!) once went to a “Peace rally” before the war in Iraq - she came back and said.....
“Those people do NOT want peace!”
OK, let me put it another way then: She obviously does not read FR (specifically the comments whenever Berkeley is mentioned)...
Just goes to show how different people with different goals at different times have different experiences. Mine were memorable, pleasing and rewarding from a world class university at the time (still is in my field). I am very thankful for the consideration my profs gave me (a personal story involved) but not so sure I would/could feel the same way today.

excellent
This and the possible criminal charges against the students at UC Irvine for their harassment of Ambassador Oren may make the administration of these schools police their fascist Muslim Brotherhood youth.
No worry. I’m sure there are plenty of Muslims in the jury pool that can make sure of a defendant’s verdict.
