White House: Cost of Gas Not Only Factor in Deciding Whether to Tap Oil Reserve
fox news ^ | 3/7/11 | staff

The White House said Monday that officials are still considering whether to tap into the strategic oil reserve but stressed that any decision would not be based solely on the price of gas.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said other factors, like whether there's a "major disruption in the flow of oil," will have to be considered.

"It's an option we are considering. But there are a number of factors that go into it, and it is not price-based alone," Carney said. "I wouldn't look to a price threshold."

The only gas reserve that two-celled brain idiot has the smarts to tap resides within his colon.

Wouldn’t have to do it if we were allowed to drill for our own.

If you take from the strategic reserve will not this raise the price even further? The sensible thing and the right thing do is increase drilling and oil exploration right now. Increase output for American consumption. Limit exportation of American oil and decrease the dependence on imported oil. Ken salazar and Odumbo are stupid.

Leave the reserve alone. An imploding middle east may create worse situ for us. Instead, lift drilling bans, approve new refineries, cut back on onerous regulations, get behind shale, coal gassification.

Oh I’m sure there was some consideration of how it will help Obama and how much time it will buy him to do further damage.

The executive branch(administration) is doing exactly the wrong things to do.. ON PURPOSE..
Its NOT AN ACCIDENT.. its specifically ON PURPOSE..

I was just listening to the radio and on the top of the hour propoganda there was a spokesperson (not sure who it was)but they were talking about not tapping the oil reserves
and that we should just drive less- I think it may have been someone in the Obama administration but cant be sure however it does sound like something his friends in low places would suggest and of course keep those tires properly inflated. Ugh

Ken Salazar is so over his head as Secretary of the Department of the Interior. Even being Salad Czar is beyond his mental capabilities.

Issue dilling permits immediately and lower or eliminate gas taxes, at least temporarily. It’s not rocket science. Note the word “strategic” in the phrase “strategic oil reserves.” It’s there for a reason - so we can use our oil reserves as a tactical negotiating tool in the event our oil providers decide to cut off our oil supply. If we deplete the supply, it will either stay depleted or we’ll have to replenish it at (most likely) astronomical prices. That could be disastrous.

Don't forget nuclear power; I hope to live long enough to see an America completely free from foreign dependence.

We can do it if we seriously tried. We put a man on the moon with less computing power than a simple calculator.

Every idiot politician (redundant, I know) who gets his silk panties in a bunch over gas prices wants to raid the strategic oil reserve. The strategic oil reserve is there for REAL emergencies, like we’re cut off from oil in the middle of a war. Even if we did open up the reserve, it would power the US for a few weeks and then be depleted. I am SO sick of hearing this ignorant crap.
