Mayor: We Have To Lay Off Teachers Right Now

Reporting Glenn Schuck
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) Mayor Bloomberg says the clock is ticking and the City needs to hand out layoff notices for teachers as soon as possible.
Thousands of teachers will face the ax, he said, and the time to reach a deal with Albany is running out as well.
We have to lay off teachers right now and we owe it to the teachers to tell those who are going to get laid off now that they are going to go so that they have a chance to get another job for the fall, he said.
The last in, first out system of layoffs, in which newest teachers to be hired will get fired first, will hurt students, he said.
Hes still hopeful for a compromise with Gov. Andrew Cuomo as to which teachers are going to be laid off, and he maintains he is not union busting. He says hes simply doing whats right for the kids.

What is disrespectful about pointing out that Mayor Bloomberg does not reside at Gracie Mansion, located at E88th Street and East End Ave on the UES, but does reside at 17 E 79th, also located on the UES?
I agree. There has to be something illegal about using taxpayer dollars to pay people whose only job is campaigning and “getting out the vote” for commie ‘RATS.
Absolutely nothing. Just respond with proper respect. :^)

Senate orders arrest of missing Democrats
Senate Republicans Thursday ordered the forcible detention of their 14 Democratic colleagues, who fled the state two weeks ago to avoid a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget repair bill...
...[Attorney] Troupis insisted the detention is not an arrest because the senators are not suspected of any crimes. Rather, he said, the resolution seeks to enforce a legislative process.

Longtime Sen. Fred Risser, D-Madison, said it was “below the dignity of the state Senate to be spending its time passing such resolutions.”
Some police - many of whom have marched alongside protesters against Walker’s plan to effectively end collective bargaining for public workers - have already objected to the arrest resolution.
Bloomberg is s socialist PIG that is destroying New York State.
I want to move so bad. I only wish I could convince my wife that it is time to pack the kids and leave the rest of our family.
But, but . . . who will there be to indocrinate the children? Who will there be to initiate the children into the joys of pedophilia and pederasty? Who will there be for the parents to blame when their undisciplined urchins cause murder and mayhem at school?
Because that would be contrary to the primary mission of any union -- a priority that is elevated above wages, working conditions and benefits -- that is, the preservation of the union.
Try starting with the ones that are double-dipping or sitting in rubber rooms because of their own misdeeds.
That alone should make a pretty good dent in the situation.
The 550 Teachers assigned to the “Rubber Rooms” at a cost of $30 million a year are still on the payroll even thorugh the rubber rooms were scheduled to be done away with last fall. Start there.
I have not played it yet but the different link does come up to CBS. I apologize for any error I made. The link just went blank numerous times. Anywho GO HAMLIN!
They always lay off teachers first, since this has the greatest adverse impact, in order persuade taxpayers to vote for tax increases. Most school districts have dramatically increased ratio of administrators (and other non-teaching positions) to teachers in recent years. In my district, the ratio has increased from 1 to 5 ten years ago to 1 to 1 at present. They could lay off some of the non-teacher employees in school districts with little to no (and maybe positive) impact.
