Polarizing Dupnik weary of spotlight

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik is a man of contradictions.
With the eyes of the nation upon him as the Jan. 8 shooting tragedy unfolded, he planted himself firmly in the spotlight when he called his state a "mecca of prejudice and bigotry."
Yet he's a man who says the limelight makes him so deeply uncomfortable he has largely avoided going out in public since.
His comments made him the darling of the left - and such anathema to the right that the Sheriff's Department's e-mail server almost crashed because it was so deluged with what he characterized as thousands of comments that were often "downright caustic and nasty and violent and vulgar."
He said he was proud to see Tucson come together after the tragedy.
But he became a polarizing figure that day. While supporters praised his words and created Facebook pages declaring their admiration, a Utah man launched an effort to recall Dupnik and the Pima County Tea Party Patriots called for him to resign. They say he politicized the shootings without evidence and embarrassed the community before a national audience.
It all got to be so much that when the Tucson Tea Party announced a meeting this month to talk about the mental-health implications of the shooting, founders implored their members not to talk about Dupnik for just this once.
Dupnik expresses anger about Arizona's new hard-line tack on immigration, calling 1070 "stupid" and a bunch of "fornicaboobery," even though he says his department is aggressive in enforcing illegal-immigration laws.

Well, that would make him a complete idiot - no?
The Dupnik antidote.

This old fart will wear his comments like an anchor .
“Yet he’s a man who says the limelight makes him so deeply uncomfortable he has largely avoided going out in public since. “
Sounds like someone at the DNC or WH kneecapped him. It’s hard to paint the TEA and GOP as nutballs when Sheriff Dipwad is your spokesman.
It’s what you would expect of a blithering idiot.
He asked for the “limelight” by dissing his own state for no good reason. Lemon light, orange light, grapefruit light, tangerine light too, what have you in citrus fruits.
Aw, he’s just plain chicken.
Tucson is the mecca of inept Sheriffs.

Dump Dupnik.
Arizona is becoming a mecca of lawfulness and stability. Under these conditions, it is much more possible to decrease racial tensions.
QUESTION How did all this happen right under Dupniks nose?
>>His own deputies paid repeated visits to the Loughner home.
>> The killer had made previous death threats, and Dupnik knew about them---he admitted it to Fox News' Megyn Kelly.
>> The shooter's classmates and teachers were terrified of him.
>> He was throwing off lone-gunman vibes everywhere he went.
>> And yet he was able to buy a gun and ammunition.
THE STORY THUS FAR Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik was beatified as a courageous law enforcement officer-----personally congratulated by our president----- b/c Dupnik blamed Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, and the Tea Party for the Tuscon shootings.
Now it's been revealed the shooter had made previous death threats that were reported to DUPNIK's office----BUT DUPNIK DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. News reports say at least five other calls about Loughner were made to Pima County L/E BEFORE the shootings.
Was there any pressure not to prosecute? What personal/political relationship does Pima County Sheriff Dupnik have with the suspects mother? Loughners mother works for the Pima County Board of Supervisors.

REFERENCE
Information has now become available that Jared Loughner had been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers.
When the Pima County Sheriffs Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved............ as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County.
If Sheriff Clarence Dupnik had properly executed the responsibilities of his office, this tragedy could have been prevented. If Sheriff Clarence Dupnik had been more aggressive in pursuing lawful charges against Loughner, he would never have been able to purchase the Glock pistol that he used to murder people.
