More than 100,000 Italian women and their supporters turned out across the country to protest against Premier Silvio Berlusconi, saying his dalliances with young women humiliate the sex as a whole and degrade female dignity.

Backers of the 74-year-old Berlusconi, who is under investigation for allegedly paying for sex with a 17-year-old girl, dismissed the protests as strictly political

Have you looked at Italy's economy lately?

His using (much better than abusing, BTW) hookers is just a way to stimulate things, while leading by example instead of by decree.

Obama could use some lessons about that; I hope he's watching...and draws the wrong conclussion.

Kind of the feminine double standard that prevails so much these days. Women are allowed to be total sluts, but men also have to think of them as decent, when the woman wants to be decent and be considered thus.

It all depends on what the word “is” is.

I was in Italy after the Clinton Impeachment and all I heard was how Americans can’t separate private lives from public politics.

Hypocrites all.

Berlusconi, always considered the first of EUrotopia's conservative shift, has been sued/prosecuted since he was elected. There have always been accusations from the opposition. None have stuck.

In France, the president can't be sued or prosecuted until he leaves office. Italy has tried to pass similar legislation but has always come up just short.

Yep! The Italians should hang salamis and prosciuttos from the docks where the ragheads come ashore.

Technology being what it is, we should be able to saturate all Moslem countries with the smell of frying bacon, driving them slowly mad with desire, such that they’d eventually burn down the mosques and minarets with the muezzins and mullahs still inside.

I’d like to see pictures of these protestors, they may be ‘guilty’.

It would be really intriguing if it was President “Silvia” Berlusconi and she were having an affair with a 17-year-old young man.
