I am late to the party, was in the back with the TV on mute. For some reason this feels a little like when the Ayatolla came back to Iran....
Al Jazeera (web) breaking: “Tanks roll through Cairo streets.”
I, for one, think Obama and his “Apology Tour” helped this situation come about sooner than it may have without it. Years of delicate international negotiations from a point of strength by the United States was largely negated by Obama’s bowing and scraping on our behalf.
Despite Obama’s and Hilary Clintons “Muslims are our brothers” nonsense, radical Islam continues to grow as the enemy of freedom across the world. Angela Merkle has, so far been the only world leader brave enough to sound the alarm in no uncertain terms. I’m not sure but I think she has since been silenced.
When they become strong enough and think the United States leadership is weak enough, (I think that’s pretty close right now) they will make their concerted move to utterly destroy Israel. The coming days might be surprising in the revelation of who Israel’s and our friends are or if we have any at all.
I’m personally not expecting much from Obama or his administration on this. We just might find out some surprising things about our own “leader” in these trying times. Remember what he said in his book about who he would side with if push comes to shove? I have no doubt that applies to international affairs as well.
Clinton is a huge part of the problem.
I've said it many times - Obama is a green light to Islam and any terrorist, dictator, despot nation to do what they want. They know we will do nothing. What he doesn't realize (or doesn't care), it puts us, the American people at risk. Thanks Obama voters. . Now we just wait until 2012?
May God protect the many American soldiers and citizens in the Middle East during this uncertain time. They need and deserve our prayers.

So here we are in the handbasket our “Dear Leader” Obama and his Gestapo have so artfully fashioned for us. Coincidence?
Get ready for that “National Emergency” that makes Obama the Supreme Leader of the US.
Mubarak has badly overstepped and the Obamanation has enabled him.
The Egyptian people do not want to see Mubarak establish a dynasty. Dictator for life was bad enough.
The Muslim Brotherhood needs to be contained but the US should have been pressuring for opening up human rights, clamping down on corruption, and some sort of non-dynastic process for succession .
Instead Obama went to Cairo and praised the Muslim world uncritically and criticized the US for interference.
What is worse than hegemony? A power void.
Don’t like this.
Might need our boys to have a bug out plan if Saudi goes up.
Where, exactly, is Obama at this moment?
How closely allied is the Muslim Brotherhood with revolutionary socialism?

The more things change...
there’s been a lot of people around here who dismiss the protesters as delusional and that this is a repeat of 1979. If that’s true, then who is Khomeini in this situation? Who is the Islamist figurehead who has the type of support and influence he had who could possibly takeover if Mubrak is ousted? Egyptians aren’t even Shia.
FR seems to holding up very well on an important news day. Thanks, John, for the hard work in troubleshooting and fixing the issue.
