Oh my God!

Shep Smith just said, “This is akin to the Berlin wall falling across the Middle-East.”

Isn’t that the truth! Mubarak would be a fool to turn on the internet so that these activists could network to take him down. And Gibbs doesn’t grasp that at all.

Seriously? Oh yeah, turning off the Internet worked wonders for Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

...... Whoo boy.... At the very least, they have figured out what we all knew years ago - that O is in WAY over his head.

May God give us strength.

Gibbs did a great job projecting obama's weakness and incompetence.

EVERY TIME a reporter asked for clarification, Gibbs blamed the reporters for not getting the earlier message. Gibbs NEVER accepted even partial blame for failure to communicate. It was like somebody asking you to repeat or clarify something, and rather than repeating or clarifying it, you scream "What?! What's wrong with you? Are you deaf?!" What a pompous ass...perfect spokesmouth for this administration.

We’re coming up on 44 years in June (I believe) since that war. Since then Israel and Egypt have signed agreements and have become fairly decent neighbors.

Well there was that little incident in 1973. Something like 18,000 Egyptians and Syrians got dead in that one and 2,800 Israelis. Caused the Arab oil embargo, wrecked the US economy. US went to Defcon 2 (only time we ever have) and scrambled nuclear armed bombers when the Russians threatened to land troops to bail out the Egyptians. But hey I see how you could miss that one.

Obvious that it’s ok to this admin that Egyptian govt can fall if it means Egyptians get to twitter.

Freedom to twitter as fast as their tiny thumbs will go, everyman’s desire... which is why pickpockets are so screwed in the Middle East.

CNN is doing a better job covering this. Sad but true. Been watching the Commie news network for the last 15 minutes. They have more boots on the ground.

there’s been a lot of people around here who dismiss the protesters as delusional and that this is a repeat of 1979. If that’s true, then who is Khomeini in this situation? Who is the Islamist figurehead who has the type of support and influence he had who could possibly takeover if Mubrak is ousted? Egyptians aren’t even Shia.

Gibbs leaving in mid Feb.

Might have another press conf today. Won’t speculate on Mubarkek’s whereabouts.

That’s it. WH Press is over.

Good timing as I am leaving Airport TV now. I’ll check in later. Many thanks to everyone for updating this thread today. I hope my FReeping with my thumbs on a blackberry on CNN’s coverage has been helpful. Thanks SE Mom for starting this thread.

God Bless You All.

Fishtalk,

I think that you should read more history for revolutionary ventures. In the US we had a colonial rebellion, the only revolution was in our thinking as to the new government.

France, Russia, Iran, China and Hungary might be good places to start your reading. Revolutions rarely spawn anything as benign as what they overthrow.

I think it also bears pointing out that virtually all of radical islam that has plagued the world these last sixty years gets it ancestry from the Muslim Brotherhood. This is part of why Saudi’s and Egypt are so autocratic — they fought to the death with the MB and Irkahn in the 30s.

The people in the streets were sent there by the Mullahs in the mosque — radical islam is the alpha and omega of what we will watch.

I hope Mubarak will stomp it down as the glory of Egyptian freedom will be more bloody and horror filled than the dictators foot and firing squads — book it.
