” Egypt forcing the others for a slice of the pie, so to speak. “

The Suez Canal, even though it ‘belongs’ to Egypt is a strategic asset for the Europeans, just as the Panama Canal is a strategic asset for the US, even though we ‘ceded’ it to the Nation of Panama...

If it comes to it, look for it to be a NATO action to secure and protect the Suez... (Of course, being a member of NATO, it will be difficult for us to dodge the conflict..)

Muslim Brotherhood Declares War on America; Will America Notice?

http://www.gloria-center.org/gloria/2010/10/muslim-brotherhood-declares-war-on-america

October 9, 2010

Indeed, this last factor explains the Brotherhood’s timing. Note that he says nothing about fighting Egypt’s government, which won’t hesitate to throw the Brotherhood leaders into prison and even to torture them. Still, the coming leadership transition in Egypt, with the death or retirement of President Husni Mubarak, seems to offer opportunities.

The new harder line coincides with the Brotherhood’s announcement that it will run candidates in the November elections, another sign of its confidence and increased militancy. The Brotherhood is not a legal group but the government lets members run in other parties. Its candidates won about 20 percent of the vote in the last elections, especially impressive given the regime’s repressive measures. If the Brotherhood intends to defy Egyptian law now there will be confrontations, mass arrests, and perhaps violence.

Most important of all, however, Badi and many others sense weakness on the part of the West, especially the U.S. leaders, and victory for the Islamists.

Even former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is warning about such things. Blair comes from the British Labour Party. Many conservatives understand these issues. But the West can never respond successfully without a broader consensus about the nature of the threat and the need for a strong response. Where are Blair’s counterparts in the left-of-center forces in North America, the kind of people who played such a critical role in confronting and defeating the previous wave of anti-democratic extremism, Communism?

This new hardline signals

1. Increased internal conflict in Egypt, the start of a decade-long struggle for power in the Arabic-speaking world’s most important country.
2. The likelihood that more Brotherhood supporters in the West will turn to violence and fund-raising for terrorism.
3. The true nature of the radical indoctrination—preparing people for future extremism and terrorism—in the mosques and groups they control.
4. A probable upturn in anti-American terrorist attacks in the Middle East and Europe.

In August 1996, al-Qaida declared war on America, the West, Christians and Jews. Nobody important paid much attention to this. Almost exactly five years later, September 11 forced them to notice. Let it be said that in September 2010 the Muslim Brotherhood, a group with one hundred times more activists than al-Qaida, issued its declaration of war. What remains is the history of the future.

Update: A well-informed friend in Egypt just said that while he’s been expecting this move by the Brotherhood for some time that I have been the only one who’s noticed it outside the country. This is the kind of service I’m trying to give my readers.

Steps in as a figurehead of the movement. Everything is in terms of “we”, not “I”; “we are beginning a new era” in Egypt. His presence approved by the MB, as I understand it.

While your post was not directed to me, I’m have been watching also - Al Jazerra through a streaming link on Breitbart.tv

(English speaking) Western media has called him the “leader of the opposition”. The Muslim Brotherhood has decided he is a good front man, our MSM is lapping it up, and the crowd in the Tahir Sq reacts as any crowd does - mindless.

He, and the MB have engineered this “facebook and twitter” rebellion among the youth.

They as much as admitted it after last Friday prayers.

How else could he pop up out of nowhere after not even being in Egypt for a year?

According to Svenska Dagbladet the reason there are unclear information on what El-Baradei said is that he was not using a megaphone. Only those standing very close to him could hear what he said.

Interesting....

So he answered no questions from the press, and gave a speech very few heard. Looks like he is already run by someone - the puppeteers are keeping him on tight leash.

It’s not necessary that they hear what he is saying. He has been installed officially and the orders he has just given to his operatives are being carried out.

The Military will turn itself over shortly, those sympathetic to Mubarak will go into exile with him, or join the new command. (Our weapons, planes and tanks to go against Israel shortly.)

Iran is very excited about the events in Egypt. This does not bode well for the U.S.

From twitter:

IranNewsNow by NellaLou @AJEnglish reports Muslim Brotherhood has confirm that Elbaradei is now head of all opposition groups! (This is a HUGE deal!) #Egypt #Jan25

Israel Militarily Prepared for a Hostile Regime in Egypt
The Media Line ^ | January 30, 2011 | Arieh O’Sullivan

[snip]

Currently, the Egyptian threat is regarded as low that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has deployed female soldiers to patrol the frontier. The mixed male-female Caracal battalion, a crack combat unit, has proven to be efficient in border patrol, but even its commander has acknowledged his soldiers wouldn’t be there in any conventional war setting.

At army headquarters in Tel Aviv, lights burned bright over the weekend as Defense Minister Ehud Barak convened top commanders and intelligence officer to assess the possible scenarios of the Egyptian upheaval.

Sunday morning, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told his Cabinet he was “anxiously monitoring” events in Egypt. “Our efforts are designed to continue and maintain stability and security in our region. I remind you that the peace between Israel and Egypt has endured for over three decades and our goal is to ensure that these relations continue.”

Still, 30 years of “cold peace” have never eliminated the deep-rooted insecurities and mutual distrust between the Israeli and Egyptian armed forces. While the peace treaty has given the IDF relief in building its battle order, the military has never taken its eye off its southern neighbor and war plans still call for a hefty reserve force to be set aside for dealing with Egypt, no matter where a confrontation may break out.

Protestors Call for Ouster of Sudanese President

Student protesters in Khartoum clashed with police on Sunday and called for the ouster of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, in a movement organizers said was inspired by the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt.

Communicating via the social networking site Facebook, organizers called for a street demonstration on Jan. 30 to protest Sudan's poor economic climate and political oppression. The date was chosen to coincide with the announcement of preliminary results for the south's referendum on whether to secede from the north. Over 99% of voters chose secession, according to those results, in line with overwhelming support for independence in southern Sudan.

A handful of demonstrations sprang up at various locations in Khartoum, including three of the main universities, and around the country. In Khartoum participants reported via twitter that police had attempted to disperse the crowd with teargas and tasers. Images posted by a Sudanese website showed police clad in riot gear apparently hitting people with long batons.
