It’s none of the Doctor’s business to be asking that question, period. I’m in the firearms industry, hold multiple NRA Instructor Certifications, and work with firearms EVERY day. What qualifies the Dr. to tell me ANYTHING about firearms? If I go to the Dr it’s for MEDICAL advice, not FIREARM advice.

I suggest that anyone who hears a Dr. ask this question ask the Dr. what qualifies him/her to discuss firearm safety. Or better yet, find another Dr...(and let them know WHY you’re leaving...hit them in the pocket).

Excellent suggestion - I shall use it at the next opportunity. Woe be to those unqualified medical experts that take it upon themselves to widen their fields of influence/control beyond what they are paid for.

What qualifies him? I suppose having a patient who is suffering from depression might be a start. How about having to clean up the mess or sign a death certificate for a child that got a hold of an unsecured firearm? Not all gun owners are responsible like people here. The doctor is perfectly qualified to remind parents and loved ones to keep these arms out of the hands of those who could harm themselves or others.
