This law is ridiculous......IF someone is going to break a low by murdering someone, they sure as heck don’t care about breaking the law about not having a firearm in a certain radius. Isn’t there scripture about things that are so ridiculously stupid seeming to make sense to certain people?

About 1/5th of a mile. What are they gonna do when someone with a sniper rifle takes someone out at a mile and 1/2? Raise the mileage?

#19 you already cannot say bad things about old chief jug-ears, also know as president obama.
You will get a visit from the FBI and perhaps a free long term visit to the iron bar hotel.
We all know he is a crappy president, you just can’t say it to his face. “You lie” or even Joe the plumber for example, had all hs past years taxes audited, because he dared to confront.
So it will be to anyone, and now being extended to the folks in congress. A. Lincoln did the same thing, he jailed a newspaper editor from Dubuque Iowa, because he had printed statements that made old abe look bad.

The is patently Unconstitutional. What part of that do you no understand?
Whatever happened to equal rights under the law?
Why should COngresscritters be given preferential treatment? Better yet....why should millions of people have to give up their GOD GIVEN gun rights?

Probably wouldn’t hurt to call him, yes. I have heard though that Boehner said this legislation isn’t going anywhere.

You can pass all the damn laws you want, criminals aren't going to abide by them. They are just handcuffing law abiding citizens. Dumb asses

The law is unenforceable.I wondered about that too. How could they prove that someone knew a person was there if they were as far away as 1,000 feet?

Yes, and somebody remind me to donate to his or her campaign.
Rep. King needs to reach up, grab his ears, and pull firmly till he hears a loud popping sound. Then, once he reassures himself that it was not the sound of gunfire, he could adopt the attitude of the new Congressman from Texas (not from my district, so his name escapes me at the moment).
Someone asked the gentleman about having beefed-up security at "events." He replied to the effect that, nah, he'd just start carrying!
To: DejaJude
They should just as well make it 5 miles.
Imagine hundreds of concentric circles moving around the USA at any given time. Who on earth is going to enforce that?
Insanity.

carrying a firearm within 1,000 feet of certain high-profile government officials.
Are you kidding me? This is a distance of over 3 football fields or 1/5 of a mile. Totally ridiculous and unenforceable. I am surprised at Peter King!
