UPDATE: From the moment this story broke, the Left attempted desperately to claim the would-be assassin of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was a Tea Party member. As the mounting evidence in this case proves, Jared Lee Loughner is a Leftist Democrat, not a conservative, not a Tea Party member. This is an excellent case study in the Leftist media doing everything it can to malign the Tea Party because it serves the Obama Administration and the goal of the media is to destroy the Tea Party to help Democrats.
The same thing happened when Muslims bombed Times Square last year…and Mayor Bloomberg and the Leftist media tried to blame the Tea Party, when it turned out the terrorist was a Muslim (who was supported by the Left, as all terrorists are).
The same thing happened with the Ft. Hood shootings in 2009…where the Leftist media tried to blame the Tea Party, when it turned out the murderer was a Muslim (who was supported by the Left, as all Muslim murderers are).

Thank you for saying what you did. I believe the guy is responsible for what he did because he probably fried his own brain on drugs and alcohol. Years ago these people would have been hospitalized long term but then the govt changed all that. They admit a psychotic for 3 days until the meds stabilize them and then realize them. The give them a prescription they’ll never fill and go right back into psychosis. The root of this is the psyche but if you want to go deeper than that - drug and/or alcohol abuse. I’m not a Palin supporter, however, I see people are trying to lay the responsibility at her feet - which is ABSURD! What a horrible thing for her to have to read and see. But there will be haters out there that will believe it. The rambling he did is a sure sign of his psychosis.

Since the congresswoman was shot in the head at point blank range, it would be a real stretch to believe someone else was the real target.
Yes, just like the Sheriff is trying to blame this on the vitrol of talking heads on the radio and TV.
this kid is clearly mentally disturbed so to blame this on any one else is a crime in itself.
Maybe there was a 50 year old guy egging him on or promoting this with him..but that is mental instability also.

What you describe is behavior of someone who would be unable to even hold a job, let alone a government job interacting with children.
Nice lone gunman theory, but it doesn’t hold up. He was a leftist, and while I understand how people can mistake the moonbat leftists for people with psychological problems (crazy), it was clear this person was functioning in society quite nicely before today.

mabel kitty - i think you ARE referring to this Jared guy who did the shooting. Are you KIDDING ME?? The man is textbook psychotic - a paranoid schizophrenic. I’ve seen this behavior over and over again - delusional, rambling, disorganized thought, paranoia, inappropriately laughing, and on and on. There’s NO question this man is a sicko. Anyone who has ever worked in mental health would spot it in a flash. The only thing I didn’t see was hyper-religiosity - which goes far beyond normal religious feelings and faith. People who have taken hallucogenics frequently have a lot of this behavior as well. If you went into 20 rooms with schizophrenic patients, 8 of them would have these behaviors. I don’t know if the guy acted alone or not, but I am positive he is sick. I don’t say that makes him innocent - I don’t think he should (and probably never will be) out on the street again. He wasn’t accepted by the military for some reason and he was tossed out of a college until he furnished a mental health pass.
