An Open Letter to Steve Jobs: Manhattan Declaration App Removed From Apple App Store?
Caffeinated Thoughts ^ | 1 Dec 2010 | Eric Goranson

Posted on 12/02/2010 9:04:56 AM PST by Alas Babylon!

Mr. Jobs,

I have been following the coverage on the removal of the Manhattan Declaration App from the App Store over the Thanksgiving Holiday. I understand and appreciate that Apple, Inc. owns and controls the vehicle and process by which apps are sold to those of us with iOS devices or (with the introduction of the Mac App Store, OS X).

As a "signer" of the Manhattan Declaration and a devoted Mac user with the Manhattan Declaration App on my iPod Touch, however, I am concerned that the decision to pull the app was ill-advised. The Manhattan Declaration’s emails are claiming that the App was not only approved in October but was given a 4+ rating for "no objectionable content." Although I understand having language in the terms of service that give you discretion when "large groups of people" are offended (ie: some of the violent apps that advocate illegal activity, pornography, etc. that you have rightfully removed before); dropping an app that highlights the work of a legitimate public policy advocacy group that respectfully engages in a public debate from the perspective of traditional Judeo/Christian values and whose values and perspectives have been endorsed by the public in every vote (33 across the country on gay marriage alone!) and poll nationwide seems inappropriate.

The gay rights community and others are more than willing to bring various controversial and counter-cultural debates to Legislatures and courts around the nation. All I’m asking is that those who’s perspectives differ from your own (or from those who complained about this app) have their voices respected. I would not ask Apple Inc to remove an app advocating gay marriage if it shared a similar tact as the Manhattan Declaration’s app does. This App isn’t propagating hate and isn’t "anti-"anyone. It is simply opposed to public policy it sees as incompatible with sound governance and/or natural law.

Please look through the app yourself (you’ll see it isn’t "hate" filled) and reinstate the Manhattan Declaration App. I’m a proud Mac user, love your company and its products, and am hopeful that you’ll do the right thing and restore free speech for an organization that speaks for the values of a vast majority of Americans…and your customers.

Thank you for your consideration (and keep up the great work on innovative products – I can’t wait to order my Macbook Air very soon!).

I too have signed the Mannhatan Declaration and it is NOT a hate group, yet the left has put pressure on Apple to remove their iPhone app because it is pro-life and pro-hetero (only a man and a woman can by married).

Strange how Steve has let all those Bible apps sneak past. ;)

Tempting...

Apple supports left wing causes far more than they do right wing causes. They are located in Cupertino, CA and are surrounded by liberal strongholds. They appeal to the “metro” crowd, IMO.

And before you flame me, I’m not a M$ adherent. I use and administrate Linux systems for fun and for a living.

All of this being said, this is par for the course for Apple, I believe, and a well composed letter isn’t likely to change their mind.

Seems to me there's quite an opportunity here. A conservative or group of conservatives to start a computer company with a nearly unbreakable O/S and products that work well and fit into the lives of many people.

I've been a Mac user for 8 years and couldn't be happier. Oh, yeah, I also signed the Manhattan Declaration as well.

“Apple supports left wing causes far more than they do right wing causes. “

Not only do they boycott Glenn Beck but they are one of few companies that boycott all of Fox News because of his show. I do not see a reason for any conservative to support such a company.

Note how I didn’t say Apple is leftwing, rather the left has pressured Apple to label something conservative as hate.

Obviously most FReepers would not consider the Manhattan Declaration to be hateful.

However, where it does happen FReepers should be aware. It is unjust, simply because it isn’t true.

My intentions is not to make this a screed against Apple.

I do think their decision is wrong, though. I think intelligent people should know that a corporation in the United States has agreed with the Left that a conservative group is hate.

The sodomites are, and have been, fascistic in their approach to advancing acceptance of their “lifestyle”. So, their getting Apple to ban this app is no surprise. Nor am I surprised that the left secularists at Apple line up with the sodomites. After all, social acceptance of the sodomite lifestyle means that no one else has to be ashamed of their infidelities, promiscuity, perversions, etc.

Apple is, and always has been, at the topper-most of the topper-most of the "politically correct" pyramid.

Note that J. Napolitano used an APPLE for her "on line" Q and A session about TSA gropes and grabs.

You nailed it!

The push of homosexuality by the cultural Marxists is to destroy the family and Christianity which made this country the strongest and best in all history.

They want to recreate pagan Rome where pederasty and orgies were the norm even though it led to their demise in their own vomit.

By promoting homosexuality, the media and schools destroy all sexual morality. There will be no good and evil that pertains to the sex act. After all, when you define what homosexuals do with their bodies, what can be more demeaning and disgusting? Nothing. You are conditioning young minds to think it is good. Evil becomes good and good becomes evil....where have I heard that before?????

Their purpose is access to young boys without going to prison. It also makes the Bible obsolete and creates the Marxist Atheist paradigm which these Neo-Marxists have been trying to do since Dewey. Can’t you picture their (Brave New World) utopia with little kids and men all copulating on the lawns in groups. Obama’s vision especially in the military.

Given that Al Gore is on the board of directors, what else would you expect?

Petition to Apple swamps server, quicker way for you to sign
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends,
Yesterday we emailed all signers of the Manhattan Declaration, asking them to sign a petition urging Steve Jobs and Apple to reinstate the Manhattan Declaration iPhone/iPad app.
We already have 7,000 signatures, but the traffic to Manhattan Declaration.org has been so heavy, that our servers have slowed down considerably.
If you have had trouble accessing the petition online, please use our affiliate petition page (CLICK HERE). On this page you are signing the very same petition available at the Manhattan Declaration site. You can also sign the petition by accessing the Manhattan Declaration Facebook page (CLICK HERE).
Let's keep the momentum going! Please forward this email to your friends and family, and help us spread the word through social media as well. Facebook and Twitter are buzzing about this petition, and we would love to have you involved in the discussion.
