Interesting that ‘Republican’ and ‘anti-republican’ (democratic) have seemingly reversed their meanings.
And God willing, may the “palladium of our Liberties” (Our second Amendment for any not familiar with Joseph Story) never cease to find relevance in these United States— among men of good will.
Who are the best keepers of the peoples Liberties?— I seem to recall Patrick Henry said it well”Are we at last brought to such an humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our own defense? ....If our defense be the real object of having those arms,in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety or equal safety as in our own hands. “ -—as another said “The best ,most effective way to enslave a people is to disarm them.” As true of firearms as it is of argument. My answer to your read —is “We the people, are the best keepers of our Liberties—and we live in a time when it appears a majority are content to trust Governments not God-and the use or threat of the bayonet— rather than self government.
