Bush camp attacks 'ridiculous' story
Politico ^ | 2010-11-10 | Andy Barr

Former President George W. Bush is denying a report that he once said he would have endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 if the Democrat had asked.

“This is ridiculous and untrue,” Bush spokesman David Sherzer told POLITICO. “President Bush proudly supported John McCain in the election and voted for him.”

A blog post on the website of the Financial Times claimed Tuesday that Bush made the remarks during an Oval Office meeting with British dignitaries, including former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“I probably won’t even vote for the guy,” the FT reports Bush having said of McCain.

“I had to endorse him,” Bush is reported to have said. “But I’d have endorsed Obama if they’d asked me.”

This is getting hard to follow: do I blame Bush for supporting McCain, or do I blame him for not supporting McCain?

Can some True Conservatives™ chime in, here?

Bush seems to be a guy who doesn't run his mouth off gratuitously.

I would believe whatever he says directly before I would believe third-party accounts.

The link to the F.T. article in the Politico no workie?

I'd like to see who wrote it, Politico didn't think it was important enough for their little hit piece.

A rumor that Obama and his band of criminal communist put out there..They see how popular Bush still is so they want to ride the gravy train..

I saw most of the interviews and he said nothing of the sort..he did say how ever he would not talk bad about the sitting president..To me that was enough..He shows the class his family has..While Obama downs and blames Bush for everything Obama does wrong, Bush sits back and says nothing about the moron in the white house..nothing bad that is..

If “Bush endorsing Obama” is the kind of bunk Financial Times is willing to run, makes you question their financial advice.

...it’s the old (how often do you beat your wife) scam

The multicultural politically correct answer to this question is "not as often as Islam permits".

I think the way to handle your dilemma is to try “I’m supporting whichever candidate runs with Sarah Palin”.

This is getting so stupid. A blog post or a “tweet” now passes as news? Sheesh.

Yeah, and Hunter Thompson was just a paid blogger at ESPNDisney when he said that the offenses at Abu Ghraib were worse than the most vile Nazi attrocities.
