I voted for Kasich, and I had the opportunity to be at a rally for him, and even to ask a question of him in that forum. He’s a very thoughtful...and good-humored....candidate.
I only wish he had taken off the gloves a little bit more and a little bit earlier. It’s true that he ran a positive campaign, and that he was strong on details of how he would change things. He even began fulfilling those campaign goals when yesterday he declared the 3C corridor light rail system dead on arrival.
However, Strickland and the teachers union battered him mercilessly, lying about his hatred for education.
His gap of 7-8 closed to a 49-47 victory on Tuesday. I think it was because he finally decided to respond. They closed quickly because he was a bit too nice.
A presidential candidate wouldn’t get a chance from the media to recover from too much niceness. They are ravenous beings at the national level.
Owe-bama has lost Ohio, even without Kasich winning. His approval numbers are at 33% and falling.
Now? With redistricting which will take place after January, he has no chance in hell of winning here.
If you don’t win Ohio, you don’t win the Whitehouse.
Its that simple. The historical record is crystal clear on this.
So now it becomes nothing more than trying to limit the damange our POTUS Messiah can cause between now and January of 2013. In this, we should all be thankful Boehner is about to become Speaker.
Springsteen’s an enigma. Personally, he wants to be Woodie Guthrie. Professionally, he knows better and not only depoliticized his music, he subtly pointed some of it towards us. As a result, his fan base is largely and perhaps predominantly conservative.
Obama gets a lot of hype for drawing 80,000 to a pre-election rally in Cleveland in ‘08. What doesn’t get mentioned is it was right after a Browns game and Springsteen (who was huge in Cleveland before he was nationally) played a couple songs. Most of the people at that rally probably voted for McCain.
This is also the man that engineered Bill Clinton getting enough votes for an assault weapons ban through the House. I like Kasich myself, and if I still lived there I would’ve voted for him hands down. But my 87 year old father who still does live there, refused to vote for him because of this—even as disasterous as Strickland is/was. Did Kasich ever come out and explain why he did that? Just one of those things that make you go, “hmmmmmm...”.
That’s a start. Now if he could use new executive powes to kick all the idiots still in power in Cuyahoga County, then we’ll really have something!!!
