SALT LAKE CITY -- American Airlines flight 1476, from Portland to Dallas, was diverted to the Salt Lake International Airport because of an "unruly" passenger.
The flight landed at Salt Lake International around 1:15 Thursday afternoon.
John Heller, a passenger on the flight, tells KSL the "unruly" passenger wanted to use the restroom before the flight left Portland, but a flight attendant told him he had to wait until after take-off.
Once the flight was in the air, the passenger apparently used the restroom three to four times and that raised suspicions. Passengers nearest to him alerted the flight attendant that they were uncomfortable with what they were seeing.
The flight attendant advised the pilot of the situation and that's when the pilot decided to make an emergency landing in Salt Lake City.....

Now just imagine if by coincidence, Jaun was on this flight.
I was thinking the same thing! When you have to go you have to go! What is the big freaking deal?
On Election Day, right after voting, I drove out to the reservoir to
contemplate the significance of this election.
As I walked along the bank of the reservoir I saw what was obviously a
Muslim extremist walking along the top of the dam, carrying a
backpack, and carefully examining every point along the way. Suddenly,
he staggered and lost his footing, falling at least 100 feet into the
water near the outlet chute.
I quickly notified Emergency Services to send rescue personnel. I
waited all day, but no one showed up.
I’m beginning to think that I wasted a stamp.
Juan? Naw....DB Cooper.
From the KSL-TV video you can see only the perp’s back side but he’s got a full beard and the long black hair is tied back in a pony tail.
And not the airport — the actual lake. Fix the SOB. ;’)
Thanks Velveeta.
Postal rates go up so fast, perhaps it was delayed due to insufficient postage.
I'm not accusing you of being a cheapskate, but....
Good point.
FR FRink!! Thanks Mark, I needed that
Yes, thanks.

“No arrest”
Testing, testing, testing
Was it Abdul Fl-ush Diarrhea ?
I agree, this was not a threat to us...it wasn't even on the continent.
I’ve read only two article regarding this incident. Neither article had any discription of the “unruly passenger” nor did they give his name. I’d wager that if is name was “John Smith” and he was as white as a feather pillow they would have noted it in the first article. JMBO (Just my biased opinion).
Heller said the man, who he said appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, was escorted off of the plane in handcuffs. Passengers were asked to get off the plane and to leave everything on the plane except their cell phones. The passengers were sequestered, he said, and some of them were questioned before they were allowed back on the plane.
Gann declined to release the man’s name.

Ping to #34 for description
I had an unnerving experience yesterday on a five hour transcontinental flight. They guy across the aisle from me kept his cell phone out the entire flight on the seat — hidden between his legs. It was a regular cell phone — not an iPhone or other entertainment device. He turned it on during flight a couple times and was punching numbers, but not talking on it. His book’s bookmark was a photo of his kids. He kept looking around rather nervously. He had olive skin and looked like he might possibly be from the Mediterranean area.
All I could think of was one of the PETN packed printer cartridges with the cell phone guts attached to them was in his baggage and he was triggering it.
The WaPo yesterday said their new attack approach is to detonate bombs in the last stage of a flight over a metro area and cause havoc by making the plane go down in a heavily populated area. I alerted the flight attendants and they determined he was ok based on a couple of walk-bys and one 5 second conversation.
Thank you for finding that. I’ll go with the eye witness description more than the “if ya gotta go, ya gotta go” excuses.
Then all I could do was laugh!
Unnerving to say the least! Did passengers other than you notice the behavior as well?
Me too.
